Chapter 1: Jailed and Released

There was a woman walking staggeringly on the grass outside the seaside villa in Saeville; the rain was getting heavier.

Her expensive silk dress was soaking wet from the rain, and it was almost see-through.

She was as pretty as a picture; her skin was fair, and she looked attractively sexy under the rain.

Yet, her expression was extremely flustered; she ran barefoot toward the main entrance of the villa despite losing her shoes.

Freya was trembling; she knelt in front of the villa entrance, and she forcefully banged on the door as she shouted.

"N…Nathan! Nathan!"

She could hear footsteps from the living room; someone opened the door from the inside, revealing a tall and slender man.

Freya looked up at her fiancé; his facial features were sharp and angular, and every inch of him was splendid.

He was her type—calm and mature—and she loved him uncontrollably.

He was always in a neat black suit, but the collar of his shirt was loosened now. It could be seen that he was irritated, yet his messy look was alluring.

If it was before, she would lean against his chest and caress Adam's apple lightly, and she might even bite on it lightly.

And he would be turned on and throw her to the bed.

On a rainy day like this, the two of them would be in each other's embraces, experiencing a crazy night together.

But, at this moment, Frey looked at Nathaniel with fear from the bottom of her heart.

She thought that after four years of engagement, she would know this man inside and out. But the man was looking at her indifferently, like a stranger to her.

She could not see his love and lust for her like before; he only looked at her coldly without any emotions.

She was panting heavily, and she grabbed the hem of his trousers.

"The stock of the Gomez family plummeted; the Rivera family set up a scheme to frame my dad... Nathaniel, were you there?

The man stood by the door, and he held a cigarette between his slender fingers. The ash fell on the plush carpet, and Frey felt that the ash was heavy enough to break her apart.

"Tell me!" She cried out, "N… Nathaniel Morgan, was it you?"

"Have you ever loved me before?" "Or was it all for show?"

Suddenly, he pulled her up from the ground and dragged her into the villa. He then threw her onto the leather sofa in the living room.

He leaned close to her and pinched her jaw tight; it was painful.

He stared at her sharply with a frown.

"Freya, I planned to let you off the hook, but why did you harm Abigail?"

"I didn't!" She cried, "I didn't push her! She fell by herself!"

"I'm innocent! She did it on purpose! She framed me!"

The two of them were stunned when his slap landed on her cheek.

She looked at him in disbelief; she knew that Abigail was his sister, but they were not blood related. And she could tell that Abigail had hidden feelings for him when she saw how she looked at him.

She was already engaged to him, so she did not need to push her down the stairs at all.

She opened her mouth and no words came out; she was like a fish without water, destined to be punished by his death sentence.

"Listen to me, Freya!" He stared at her murderously, and he strangled her cheeks hard. "You should never ever harm Abigail; do you hear me?"

"I thought that you were different from your father! Seems like I was wrong; all of the people from the Gomez family are heartless!"

"Ha!" He stared at her pale face, and he tried to suppress his complicated feelings. He sneered, "Do you want to know what sort of deal I've just made with your father?"

"I gave Killian two choices to choose from; it's either everyone from the Gomez family dies, or he sacrifices his life for everyone!"

"N…No!" She widened her eyes, and she desperately grabbed his arms; she wanted to break free.

He pinned her down forcefully, and he said slowly, "Killian should be jumping down from the twenty-eighth floor of Omnilert Group now!"

"N…No!" Her eyes were red; she hopelessly pushed and hit him.

She was like a trapped animal; she screamed miserably, and the ruthless man on top of her was not giving her a chance to breathe.

"Freya and Abigail could dance excellently. But her legs were injured protecting me. And because of you now, her hand was broken; she couldn't play the piano anymore."

He got up slowly and grabbed her arms. He dragged her to the marble tea table at the side, and he pressed her hand on top of the table.

She felt uncomfortable with the icy cold sensation; she was kicking and punching him, but she could not break free.

Nathaniel, you're inhumane!

She burst into tears. So he pretended to love me? And he got engaged to me just to ruin the Gomez family?

Nathaniel picked up a golf club from the side and smiled at her; it was just that the smile was full of sarcasm.

"Freya, you should ask your father about what he has done to the Morgan family!"

"Three years; you'll be jailed for three years. I'm sparing your life; you shall repent in prison!"

"Abigail's hand is completely comminuted now; you should experience the same!"

And he hit her hand with the gold club.

"N…No… No…A..Ah!" She screamed helplessly; the rain was getting heavier outside of the villa.

——————————

Three years later, the prison gate slowly opened.

Freya was out dressing in worn-out gray sportswear; her body was extremely slim and skinny, and it seemed like her clothes were inappropriately oversized.

Her long hair was cut short; it was around her ears now.

The cold and wet winter triggered her rheumatoid arthritis; her knees, wrists, and shoulders hurt so much that she frowned.

Compared to the torment she had experienced in the past three years, this pain was nothing to her.

She knew that Nathaniel would not let her have an easy life in jail; the prison tyrants had tons of ways to torture her. Her skin was covered with scars.

The sun was a bit dazzling; she looked up, and her eyes hurt. Her hair fell to the side of her ear, and a big scar could be seen on her right cheek.

This scar was caused by the prison tyrant's jealousy; she punished her for being pretty and said that she should reflect on herself.

Ha! Everyone wants me to reflect, but what wrong have I done?

She smiled numbly. She used to love to smile when she was still the proud daughter of the Gomez family; she was a top designer who graduated from a well-known academy, and she was also a famous pianist.

She subconsciously hid her skinny and disabled left hand in her sleeve.

She did not know how to smile anymore.

She lowered her head and used her hair to cover up her scar, but the one on the brow bone of her left eye could not be covered no matter how hard she tried.

"Fay! Fay!" Someone was calling for her; she limped as her legs were in pain.

She slowly walked out of the prison and into the outside world.

Chapter 2: Seeing Him Again

If there was still one good thing in Freya's life, it would be Peyton, who was trotting toward her now.

Peyton was her high school classmate; anyone who could be admitted to that high school was a top student.

In her sophomore year of high school, Peyton suddenly dropped out of school.

But the two of them were not close back then, so Freya did not pay much attention. It was a few years ago when Nathaniel brought her to a clubhouse, and the two of them bumped into each other. Peyton was a bar girl, and she was being bullied by some rich young men.

As the elder lady of the Gomez family, she just happened to save her. She did not even remember what she had done.

But, to her surprise, Peyton was the only one who paid her visits in jail throughout the years. Her so-called best friends and business partners did not even try to reach out and help her.

There was only Peyton.

Not only did she visit her from time to time, but she also spent her savings to save Freya's mother, who got into a car accident and fell into a coma. Because of her, her mother was saved.

"Fay, are you okay?" Peyton dressed casually, but there was still heavy makeup on her face. She had severe dark circles underneath her eyes; the customers must have been difficult the night before.

Peyton's eyes reddened as she said, "Sorry... I couldn't bail you out."

Freya grabbed her hand and slowly kneeled to her.

"Fay! What are you doing?"

She hurriedly helped her up and scolded her jokingly. "I'm not an old lady, so why are you kneeling to me? I'm too young for this!"

Peyton was making fun of her, and she let Freya sit on her electric motorcycle; they were heading toward her rented house.

Freya was holding onto Peyton's waist tightly.

"Peyton, how much did you spend on my mother's hospital fee?" Freya's voice was rough; her vocal cords were damaged. Those prison tyrants not only used cigarettes to burn her mouth; they also locked her in the bathroom and set it on fire.

"Hey, we're friends! It doesn't matter." Peyton laughed it off.

"How much was it?" Frey insisted on asking; Peyton's denim jacket slipped up, revealing the scar on his waist that was burned by the customer's cigarette butt.

Peyton paused and smiled. "It roughly cost a few hundred thousand dollars. You should take care of yourself first before returning me the money."

"Peyton, please introduce me to a job. I have been in prison before, so I don't have much choice; I can do anything!"

Freya knew that Peyton had not had it easy all these years; she was always being scolded and even beaten by the customers. She wanted to leave her job a long time ago if it was not for her.

She could never repay enough of her favor.

Her mother was getting treatment in the hospital, and it cost a great fortune.

She was willing to do anything for money.

The night fell in the Red Shift of Saeville, and Freya was forced to kneel and apologize to a woman with heavy makeup.

Freya was actually tall, but she knelt and huddled. She was really shivering because she could not afford to be fired.

She had been in prison for three years, and she had just got out of it. She knew it would be hard for people like her to look for a job; she only managed to work in Red Shift, thanks to Peyton.

"So… Sorry, I'll wipe your shoes for you." Freya wanted to use her hands to wipe off the water stain on the women's shoes.

When she was mopping the floor just now, this woman suddenly rushed into the toilet and vomited on the sink; it seemed like she had been drinking too much.

Freya was holding a bucket of water, and the woman bumped directly into her; she insisted that she lick her shoes clean.

The supervisor was annoyed as the customers here were usually rich and powerful; he did not dare to offend any of them.

The supervisor looked at Freya and scolded, "What the f*ck is wrong with you?" You're fired!"

"What's the matter?" A man asked playfully; his voice was nice and pleasant to the ears.

Everyone panicked, and hurriedly made way for that man.

He was wearing dark silver casual clothes, and his facial features were sharp and handsome. And he was smiling all the time, like a playboy.

Freya was frightened hearing his voice; she froze on the spot.

She could not contain her fears at all.

His name was Jacob, and he was from the Rivera family, which monopolized the shipping industry in Savannah. The Rivera family and the Gomez family used to be neighbors; he used to climb over the fence of the villa garden and go to play with her. She would never think that Jacob would gang up with that man to harm the Gomez family.

"Ha! Freya?" Jacob looked at the woman kneeling on the floor; she was unhealthily skinny, but he could still recognize her from her back.

He playfully raised her chin, and he looked at her face.

He tightened his grip when he looked at her clearly.

Her face is ruined.

She wanted to run away, but he grabbed her wrists and pinned her down.

The people around him changed their faces when they saw her. They had complicated looks on them.

"It's really Freya!"

"She's the one who attempted murder."

"It was rumored that Mr. Morgan sent her to jail?"

"Look at her face!" "She's so ugly with scars!"

All of them knew that Freya was not on good terms with the Rivera and Morgan families, so they all looked down on her.

Jacob looked at her and smiled dryly. "When did you get out of prison? Why don't you tell me beforehand so I can pick you up? Nathaniel might be busy, but I am not."

Nathaniel!

She trembled even more hearing his name being mentioned.

She was betrayed by her most trusted childhood friend and also by her beloved fiancé; her family was ruined; her life was far worse than death.

All she had left were fears toward the two of them.

She hurriedly broke away from his hands, and she was trembling as she looked down.

Finally, she managed to bring herself to talk, even though it was nearly a whisper. "Sorry, Mr. Rivera, I'm sorry for causing trouble for your friend!"

The woman with the water stain on her shoes kept shouting that she was his friend.

Jacob's eyes widened as he was taken by surprise. Is she still the same proud daughter of the Gomez family as she was three years ago?

He almost could not recognize her; she looked so vulnerable now.

She might be in her twenties, but she was skinny and hunched her back; it seemed like she was a dying old woman.

He somehow felt sorry for her.

The Gomez family was sinful, so he and Nathaniel teamed up to bring this family down. The Rivera family got a lot of benefits from it, and he did not expect Nathaniel to be this ruthless and cold-hearted.

After all, everyone in Saeville knew that Freya loved him.

Freya was the one pestering Nathaniel back then; she only had an eye for him.

But Nathaniel did not even care about her back then.

He coughed lightly, and he boringly waved his hand.

"Alright, everyone should leave now."

The mighty son of the River family already spoke, so all the celebrities followed him and left.

The supervisor glanced at Freya with a complicated expression.

She wanted to continue cleaning with the bucket, but a sharp pain came from her knees.

The prison tyrants snatched away her blanket back then when she was sleeping; her bed was by the door, and they even splashed cold water on it. She almost could not survive that winter, and she has suffered from severe arthritis since then.

She took a deep breath and held back her pain.

The supervisor said from afar, "Room 808 needs someone to clean up now; hurry up!"

She was in charge of that room, so she limped over in a hurry.

Room 808 was the VIP room of the Red Shift; the customers would spend more than a hundred thousand dollars per night.

The light was dim, and the room was full of handsome men and pretty women. There were a lot of empty liquor bottles; Freya was busy cleaning up the table. Suddenly, she was held by a drunken man.

"Wow, as expected of Red Shift! The cleaner here is young as well! Oh my, her face is ruined!"

The man was hugging her; she was trying to break free, and she fell to the ground when she could not balance herself.

She wanted to push herself up, only seeing a pair of shiny leather shoes in front of her. She looked up and saw that it was a man wearing tailored black trousers.

And the collar of his gray shirt was loosened; his face was breathtakingly handsome, but he looked cold.

He was pursing his lips as he sat in the middle of the room emotionlessly. Everyone surrounded him as if he were an emperor.

Their gazes met, and her face was turning pale.

Nathaniel Morgan… Here we meet again.

Chapter 3: Humiliation

Nathaniel did not expect to see Freya again in this kind of place, and she was even disfigured.

He looked at her, and he felt depressed for no reason.

He raised his hand to pinch her cheeks, and he stared at her.

She was struggling aggressively, and she felt breathless. She wanted to push his hands away and protect her disfigured face.

He frowned for a while; he could feel that her hands were rough and even full of thick calluses. Her hair was short and messy, and her skinny face was full of fear.

He frowned even harder, and he asked mockingly, "Ms. Gomez, how are you doing?"

She was shaking, and her lips were trembling; she was overwhelmed by fears.

All of her hardships were caused by the man sitting in front of her; she hated him, yet she feared him more.

He stared at her coldly, and he asked, "Ms. Gomez, did you lose your ability to talk after three years?"

"Mr… Mr. Morgan!" She used all her strength to speak his name.

Her sound was hoarse and weird; his hand froze when he heard it. And then he let go of her and wiped his hands with a tissue as if his hand had touched something dirty.

The rest of the people were stunned looking at what happened; it seemed like Nathaniel knew this cleaner.

The door of the room was pushed open, and Jacob strode in. He wanted to say something to Nathaniel, his good friend. But then he was attracted by Freya, who was kneeling on the floor.

He was taken aback, and then he walked up to sit in the empty seat beside Nathaniel. And then he pulled Freya, who was kneeling on the floor.

"Hey, we're all old friends!" "Why are you kneeling down?"

She staggered, and she was dragged up by Jacob; her body was still shivering, and she thanked him.

Her voice made the face of the man in front of her darken.

All she wanted to do was escape; he knew that he was a devil, and she could not afford to enrage him.

She had to live! She would be dead by now if it were not for her coma-ridden mother and missing younger brother.

Sometimes living is more difficult than dying.

She gritted her teeth and forced herself to hold on.

She somehow thought that she was the one to be blamed for the downfall of the Gomez family.

Four years ago, she brought Nathaniel home, and her father said that Nathaniel was not a good man. And she did not listen to him; she cried and begged to marry Nathaniel.

Now, all she wanted was to stay away from him; she did not want to see him in her life anymore.

Her knees were in extreme pain, but she ignored it and took some steps back.

"Stand still!" Nathaniel spoke coldly.

She did not dare to move anymore; she held her breath as she looked at him.

"Nathaniel, just let it go," Jacob said with a smile to the side.

"Go out now!" Nathaniel's face crumpled.

Jacob was stunned, and he looked at the timid Freya. He moved his lips, but he did not know what else to say.

Nathaniel was best friends with him for years. Back then, the Rivera family was in trouble; Jacob was sent abroad to stay low, and he met Nathaniel in the Chinatown of Mypos. And they became best friends for life ever since.

He knew Nathaniel well, so he looked at Freya and got up.

"Everyone f*ck off!"

The rest of the people got up and left the room, one after another. Freya also wanted to follow them out, but the man in front of her was walking near her.

She wanted to back off subconsciously; he seemed so much more intimidating and aggressive than three years ago.

He glared at Freya deadly, and his gaze was as sharp as a knife.

Freya could not hold back, and she knelt down in front of him.

"Mr. Morgan, three years have passed."

"I was in jail; my dad was dead; my mom was in a coma. And my left hand is also disabled."

"Mr. Morgan, I'm begging you to let me go! I promise that I will never appear in front of you again!"

He did not expect her to kneel down to him, and he was taken by surprise. Yet he was angered by her action.

He dragged her up and pushed her against the fancy wall; her skinny waist landed on the marble decoration, and she felt painful.

She bit her lips so that she did not scream, and she looked into his eyes with fear.

Nathaniel realized that she was completely different; she was now useless and easy to bully, but he did not feel good about it.

"Freya… Why are you so cheap? You're very good at kneeling to people, are you?"

She was panting heavily, and her body was trembling uncontrollably.

He frowned, and he said in a lowered voice, "Do you think that your life can be better if you get together with Jacob, my best friend?"

"I…I didn't…" She did not expect him to misunderstand her like this.

She was such a mess that no man would ever be interested in her.

He hasn't seen me in three years, and he's doing this to me now?

Just as I begged him to believe my innocence three years ago, but he did not believe that I didn't push Abigail.

Everyone would not believe that Abigail would fall down the stairs by herself in the wheelchair.

It was fine if others misunderstood her, but he did not believe her either.

She closed her eyes helplessly, and she felt numb; she did not bother to explain herself anymore.

Her dull expression made him inexplicably upset. He hated everyone from the Gomez family, including her; they all should go to hell.

Seeing this woman again, he actually panicked. No! I won't let anything or anyone affect me; she's a nobody to me!

"Ask Della to come in now!"

The bodyguard guarding the door hurriedly turned and walked away, and after a while, a graceful woman walked into the room.

She looked splendid with her exquisite makeup; she was the person in charge of Red Shift, and all the workers here addressed her as "Ms. Cruz".

Freya came here to work as a cleaner; she had only seen Della from afar before. Della was beyond her reach.

She did not expect Nathaniel to have the power to order Della, and Freya was panicking.

"Mr. Morgan, what do you need?" Della was respectful to him, just like he was her boss.

Red Shift was actually one of Nathaniel's properties.

Freya's face was pale, and she finally realized it.

Nathaniel ruined the Gomez family, and he also took over the Omnilert Group. Now that he was even involved in the largest entertainment industry in Savannah, He was so ambitious.

He even replaced his father as the president of the Saeville Chamber of Commerce; he was extremely powerful now.

Nathaniel looked at Freya with disgust, and he said, "Let her greet guests at the door!"

Della was stunned that a woman with a disfigured face would greet the guest.

Freya's face turned pale in an instant. She knew that Nathaniel would never let her go; he would publicly humiliate her.

She was once from the rich people's circle, and the customers here in the Red Shift might recognize her and mock her.

She did not care about anything, including her dignity, but she did not wish to go through public humiliation.

Her voice trembled, and she grabbed onto him. "Mr. Morgan, please... please let the Gomez family go; we're left with nothing; I'm begging!"

He slowly bent down, and his lips brushed against her ear. "Freya, you shouldn't even appear in front of me again. You should be punished for trying to seduce me."

Her eyes widened, and her heart was shattered into pieces; she thought that she could not be any more hurt than she was.

Her stiff facial expression enraged him. "Hey, are you deaf?" His face crumpled as he looked at Della.

Della smiled and replied, "Boss, I'll arrange whatever you've requested."

Chapter 4: Ugly Usher

So, suddenly, Freya became an usher instead of a cleaner. She was forced to change into a slim-fitting dress, and it made her look even slimmer.

Yet Nathaniel only asked her to change clothes; her hair was still messy without touch. She lowered her head and stared at the ground, wishing that she could melt into it.

Her body was trembling. It was eleven o'clock in the night for this shift. Supposedly, she should have gotten off work, but she bumped into Nathaniel, and he chose to publicly humiliate her by putting her at the entrance to work.

She not only had arthritis, but she also had a severe gastric problem. She did not manage to have her dinner as it was a hectic night; she planned to cook noodles with Peyton back at the rented house after work.

At that moment, her stomach was cramping. It was so painful that her face turned pale, and she was sweating coldly.

"Freya?" A few well-dressed women walked toward the entrance of Red Shift; they all noticed Freya as she stood out.

The woman leading the group was stunned upon seeing her.

Freya obviously remembered the owner of the voice; she was her best friend, Jolin. She was a rich girl from the Johnson family. But, back then, the Johnson family was not as established as the Rivera, Morgan, and other families, including the Gomez families.

Freya used to be at the top of the chain, so Jolin would definitely be on her side. They were almost the best friends of all.

But, when she was jailed, Jolin was the first to visit Abigail, who was hospitalized, to tell her about this news.

She felt wronged and broken-hearted.

Back then, Jolin ran into a lot of trouble when she was first starting at a film company. Freya was the one who contacted a few investors for her, and now that she was a fairly popular actress,

Jolin was surprised at first, and then she looked at Freya with disdain. She adjusted her sunglasses and looked at Freya's face for a long time. She exclaimed, "Oh! What's wrong with your face?"

She saw her scar being covered by her hair, and she used her hand to lift her face.

Freya wanted to back off subconsciously.

Jolin's face darkened. She had always hated Freya; she was always the center of attention, and she was always her sidekick.

Freya excelled in her studies; she was pretty, and her family background was strong. She was the child that every parent wanted.

She f*cking hated her; because of her, everyone did not see how good she was. Ha, ha, I never thought that I would see this day coming.

Jolin gestured to her sidekick, who was standing next to her, and then she walked into the Red Shift proudly with her high heels.

She would not bully Freya herself; she would take advantage of this idiot.

And that woman was the one who had a fight with Freya due to her pouring water onto her shoes. She was a normal actress; her name was Emma.

She was pestering Jacob, and it turned out he scolded her and asked her not to embarrass that cleaner. She was furious.

Hmph, she's just a lowly cleaner, so why did Mr. Rivera protect her? She had such an ugly scar on her face.

Emma finally managed to get near Jacob, the rich man of a woman's dream. But it was all in vain now.

Jolin was fairly influential in their circle, so obviously Emma would do anything to please her. It was hard to get good resources as an actress after all.

Emma was staring viciously and deadly at Freya.

She understood what Jolin wanted her to do; as Jolin was famous now, she would not create trouble for herself.

But Emma was different. She raised her hand and slapped Freya's cheek.

Freya abruptly looked at Emma; she stared at her in an indescribable way, which actually intimidated Emma a bit.

But Emma calmed herself down as she remembered that Freya was just a cheap and ugly cleaner. She could easily ruin her life.

Freya did not expect Jolin to summon someone to bully her; she took a deep breath and looked down.

She could no longer be proud and confident; all she wanted was to save her job so that she could save money for her mother.

"What were you looking at? Is this how you should behave?" Emma reprimanded her loudly, "Since when would the Red Shift put an ugly woman like you to welcome their guests? You have to be responsible if someone dies of shock after seeing your face!"

She cursed her viciously, just to please Jolin.

Emma cursed at her even harder so that Jolin could give her some advantage at work. She grabbed Freya's hair and snorted, "Aren't you cheap? You loved to kneel down to people, right? C'mon, I'll forgive you if you do it again!"

"You've offended me just now. You should be humble as the usher! Kneel down now!"

"Stop it! Who are you?" Suddenly, a woman in a golden suspender dress and heavy makeup rushed over and pushed Emma away.

"What are you doing?" Peyton was drinking with her customers in the private room just now. After work, she heard that Freya was in trouble for offending Nathaniel.

She was completely terrified. She was a little apprehensive when she helped Freya get the job. But she thought that being a cleaner was low-profile enough.

A cleaner of the Red Shift could earn considerably well too.

But she never thought that Freya could run into that bastard, Nathaniel.

She rushed to the entrance and bumped into Emma, who was grabbing Freya's hair, forcing her to kneel.

She pulled Freya to her back, and she glared at Emma.

Emma sneered, "What? You two wish to be fired, is it? Call your supervisor."

Freya hurriedly bypassed Peyton and bowed. "Sorry, it's my fault; I'll kneel down!"

"Fay!" Peyton's eyes were red; she did not want her to kneel down in front of so many people. She was supposed to be a proud woman.

Emma crossed her arms triumphantly and said, "That's right, you're not the same old Ms. Gomez; you have to learn to be smart."

"Emma!" Peyton walked up to her, and she muttered, "Do you really want to exaggerate things?"

Emma's face changed; Peyton gritted her teeth. "I've recorded what you're doing with Mr. Reeves back at the stairs. Do you want me to expose you? Worst case scenario, I'll be fired after uploading the footage!"

"What would Mr. Rivera think of your affair? Will he forgive you?"

"You…" Emma did not think that Freya's friend would be this protective; she snorted and left.

Finally, the crowd was gone, and Freya was covered in cold sweat.

"Let's go! We'll apply to resign from Ms. Cruz!" Peyton grabbed her hands and fragged her. She felt sorry for her; she did not want to see her being bullied helplessly.

She liked Freya three years ago; she was as proud as a peacock, and she used a few sentences to save her from those immoral rich young men.

If it were not for Freya, she would have been sexually abused by those men in the private clubhouse that night.

"Peyton!" Freya grabbed her hand and muttered, "It's useless!"

"How can it be useless? Can't we just quit? We can be earning elsewhere!" Peyton could not contain her anger anymore.

"The Red Shift belongs to... Nathaniel. He won't let me go; I can't drag you into this matter. You're my best friend. I'm so useless right now, and I don't want to affect you!"

"Please stop helping me!" I'm begging!"

She was full of despair because she knew how scary that man could be. She did not have many friends and family left; she could not risk losing Peyton.

She had lost so much.

Peyton's face turned pale listening to her words.

Sh*t! Freya would definitely be in trouble! What should I do?

Chapter 5: Robert Reeves

Freya looked at Peyton pleadingly and said, "Peyton, please; I'm begging."

"We can't win against Nathaniel; I'm already at my worst; once he's bored with me, he might let me go."

"What if he accidentally kills you?" Peyton snapped; tears were filling her eyes.

"Why are the two of you standing here? Do you still want to work? Get back to your position!" Della finally arrived, and she glared at Peyton.

Peyton moved her lips, but she looked into Freya's depressed and devastated eyes.

She felt helpless; she wanted to help Freya, but she was too powerless.

Freya was being targeted by Nathaniel at the moment. All her income was spent on Freya's mother, Linda. It cost a lot to take care of a coma patient; all the medication fees and nursing care were overpriced. It was unbearably stressful for the two of them.

If the medications are stopped, Auntie Linda will be dead.

She was an orphan, and she did not want Freya to become one too.

Peyton gritted her teeth, and she apologized to Della before getting back.

Della glanced at Freya coldly; Freya quickly bowed and said, "Sorry, Ms. Cruz."

"Freya, do you know how much trouble you have caused me tonight? You're on your own!" Della snorted and woke up, but she actually sympathized with her.

Freya can offend anyone but the devilish man...

Freya forced herself to work for another two hours, and finally her shift ended. She clutched her stomach tightly; she was dizzy from the hunger and pain.

She staggered to the staff locker room, and she took out a piece of bread from the cabinet. She then walked to the corner of the stairs outside the washroom, and she tore open the package and devoured the bread hurriedly.

She was extremely hungry, so she ate too quickly. She accidentally choked on the food, and she coughed until tears streamed down her face.

She leaned against the icy wall weakly; she felt like now was similar to her days in prison—difficult and full of torments.

She was extremely exhausted, but she would wait for Peyton to go back with her to the rented house.

Peyton was supposed to be off work a long time ago, but she was assigned to work in room 607. She did not know when she could be done.

She was worried that Peyton might overdo it, so she would purposely wait for her to help her back home.

At that moment, Freya did not realize that the security camera had actually moved around for a while.

Suddenly, she overheard the chatter and laughter of several women on the other side of the corner.

"Peyton will be taught a lesson tonight! She's doomed!"

"I know, right? Out of so many people, she went to offend Mr. Reeves."

"It was known that Mr. Reeves might accidentally kill the women after having fun with them." And he always covered up the incidents with money."

"Don't you know that Peyton stood up from that ugly woman just now? So she has offended Emma, who has been Mr. Reeves' favorite recently."

"Ha! The ugly woman must be bringing bad luck upon people, although she used to be the daughter of the Gomez family."

Freya abruptly stood up and rushed over to room 607 impulsively.

When she was near the private room door, she could hear Peyton's pleading and others' evil laughter.

She pushed open the door forcefully; the room was dim, and there were a bunch of rich young men sitting on the leather sofa with young and beautiful models and actresses surrounding them.

There was a very fat man sitting in the middle of the sofa.

He was the infamous Robert Reeves. He was obese, and he acted psychotically around women. He liked to torture pretty women.

He offered a lot of money, but barely any woman dared to serve him.

There was a big bucket on the table, and they were filling it up with alcohol. And a slim man was pushing and pressing Peyton's head into it.

"Hurry up and finish the alcohol! And these one hundred thousand dollars will be yours!" The people were even cheering on the side.

Peyton struggled desperately; she wanted to break free to gasp for air. But her face was being pinned tightly into the bucket again. The alcohol was over her eyes; it seemed like she was suffocating.

Freya snapped, and she dashed toward them without hesitation; she crazily pushed the man who was pinning Peyton down.

The bucket was knocked over, and Peyton collapsed on the ground, and she was vomiting.

Freya breathed a sigh of relief at seeing her still alive.

"Mr. Reeves, look at this woman. She might be ugly, but she has a nice body figure. She should be fun to play with!" Emma leaned on Robert and said

Freya glared at her, and she realized that Emma was behind Peyton's overtime; she wanted to harm her.

Emma took her revenge faster than they expected.

Robert lifted her face and commented, "So ugly!"

He then kicked Peyton on the ground, and he said, "Drink it now! Didn't you need this money? Hurry up!"

"Mr. Reeves, as you see, Peyton is not feeling well now. I'll drink it on her behalf so that nothing will go wrong that might affect your reputation. Do you think it's okay?"

Freya quickly stood up for Peyton; she did not want her to be harmed.

Usually, such an incident would have alerted Della. And she would be here to settle it and prevent any mortality.

But no one came to their rescue; it could only mean that Nathaniel was allowing this to happen to them.

Peyton helped her, so that she had become Nathaniel's target too.

Robert was taken aback; he did not expect Freya to be brave and straight forward. He was looking for so much fun, and it seemed like it was here.

"Hey, you're so ugly!" "But you want to earn a hundred thousand dollars too?"

"Yes, Mr. Reeves! I need money; I'm cheap; I'm lacking in money!" She stood miserably in front of him.

He burst into laughter and said, "Very well! C'mon, open more wine now!"

"All of you stand there, yes. Put the alcohol there! Ha, ha, ha! This is starting to be fun! I like it!"

Freya looked at what was happening right in front of her eyes; her face turned pale.

Robert's friends spread their legs apart with a smile on their faces. They put a glass of wine underneath their legs, and there was a stack of money next to the glass.

"C'mon! Climb over us and drink the wine! Then the money shall be yours! If you climb over ten times, you could earn one hundred thousand dollars! Do you want it? Ha, ha, ha!"

"Mr. Reeves, you're so naughty!" Emma pecked his cheek and said, "But I like it!"

Freya was stunned until she held her breath.

She froze there; everyone was waiting for her to make a fool of herself. They were cursing and saying all sorts of obscene words.

"Why are you not climbing? Do it, or your friend has to continue to drink!" Robert broke into laughter, and he was laughing cruelly.

She slowly knelt down.

"C'mon! Climb over!"

"Ha, ha…"

Her stomach was cramping up to the point that she might faint; if she drank in such a condition, she might be dead.

"Climb now!"

Everyone was laughing and applauding.

She closed her eyes and slowly climbed toward the first man.
