Chapter 1

“Didn’t I tell you to wash my dirty clothes?” Eva Reed asserted while looking at Ivy, who was busy mopping the floor. She tried to ignore Eva but the latter pulled her hair, making her groan in pain.

“If I am talking to you, you should look at me, you useless bitch!”

Ivy closes her eyes as she stood up and met Eva’s gaze. “I… I already washed your—”

“No! You didn’t!” Eva shouted, and tightened her grip on Ivy’s hair.

Ivy wanted to cry, but she can’t. She doesn’t want to show that she feels pain in front of her mother-in-law.

“You can ask the maid… I really washed—”

“Yes, you washed it but you used the machine. I want it handwash!” Eva gritted and pulled Ivy’s hair, making the latter whimper after that, she let go of her.

Ivy fixed her disheveled hair and sighed. “I will wash it again,” she said. It’s the only way to make the witch stop from getting mad.

Eva smirked. “Good. After you mop the floor, clean the windows and change the curtains. You get me?”

Ivy nodded and after that Eva left.

She heaved a deep sigh. It’s been a year since she married Wyatt Reed, the son of Clint and Eva Reed. She’s so much in love with Wyatt—it was love at first sight from that night.

She was elated when Wyatt agreed to wed her, although there are conditions, still, she feels like she achieved what she ever wanted from the start. But with these abrupt decisions, she abandoned her true self. She left what was meant for her.

“Hey, bitch!”

Ivy frowned when she heard that voice. ‘Here we go again,’ she thought as she put down the rug and turned to her sister-in-law.

“Piper.”

Piper arched her brow and crossed her arms in front of her chest as she stopped in front of her.

“My friends will visit the mansion and I want you to cook for us.”

Cook?

They have maids. She’s not even a maid from the start. She’s part of their family. She’s Wyatt Reed’s wife!

“B-But we have maids—”

“We?” Piper scoffed, feeling disgusted, “dream on, bitch. You will never be part of our circle and family. Goodness, I even don’t know where you came from. Wyatt just picked you at the dumpsite!” she uttered.

Dumpsite?

So, they’re considering her as trash?

Is that it?

Ivy took a deep breath and exhaled it gently to calm herself. “Snacks or lunch?”

“Both.”

“What do you want me to cook then?”

Piper arched her brow. “Seriously? Do I look like I know how to cook?”

Ivy pressed her lips together to suppress her smile. Since day 1, she knew that Piper has a coco brain. She’s slow and stupid, unlike Wyatt.

“All right. I will finish this first—”

“What? You will make us wait—”

“Miss Piper, your mother gives me tasks to do. And I only have one body. I can’t cut it in a half and do what you want as I do what she wants. It’s still early and I promise, I will make it on time,” she cut off, feeling a little bit irritated.

Piper’s eyes widened and glared at her. “One thing I dislike is when I am talking and you dared to cut me off!”

Ivy slightly bowed her head and apologized but she didn’t expect that Piper will smack her head. She clenched her fist and never dared to lift her head. She stared at the floor, particularly at Piper’s feet. She waited for the daughter of the witch to leave.

A tear fell from her left eye and when Piper’s aura was gone, she lifted her head and try to forget what had happened.

Every time Wyatt is not in the house, the two treated her like their maid. The Reeds are rich. They have many maids. But those two witches let her do all the chores when Wyatt is not around. And when Wyatt is present, they act as if they were angels, but truth is, they’re demons!

To be productive and finish all her duties, Ivy tried her best to forget every negative vibe that Eva and Piper gave this morning. She continues mopping the floor and after an hour, she removed all the big curtains—they’re long and heavy and the Reeds usually asked for a cleaning service to clean those.

After a couple of hours, when Ivy glanced at the huge clock near the grand staircase of the mansion, she sighed and walked her way to the kitchen. She was glad that Piper didn’t get back yet. She bet she went to pick her friends up.

Ivy knew that Piper’s circle will never initiate visiting her. She’s just assuming it. When in fact, her so-called friends are just using her as she was a Reed.

“Visit, my foot,” she whispered as she was making some snacks and preparing the course for their lunch.

When Piper says snack, she meant that it will be served with their lunch.

…

“What the hell?! Seriously, Piper? You will make us eat those things?” a girl with blonde hair asserted the moment the food was served and the maids opened the cover one by one.

Ivy, who was listening behind the wall giggled.

“There’s no hell way that we are going to eat those. What kind of food are these? Eels? Baby crabs, overcooked spinach—what the fucking hell, Cath. You should’ve informed us that you will want us to eat trash!”

Piper was speechless, she was humiliated in front of the others. Then there she roamed her gaze and looked for that person.

But Ivy knew that Piper will look for her, so, she rushed upstairs, and went inside her room.

She threw herself on her bed and smiled widely as she stared at the ceiling. She feels great. But of course, there are always consequences.

Well, what’s new?

She will do her best to endure everything… for Wyatt.

IVY’s tears streamed down her cheeks as she was staring at herself in front of the mirror. She could see the scratches that came from the wicked Piper in her arms. Two were deep cuts.

This is not new to her. Every time she goes against the two, they will harm her. But that was not her concern at the moment. Wyatt called last night and informed her that he will go back home.

Yes, her husband will be back and she was supposed to be happy—she’s happy but nervous at the same time. She doesn’t want him to see those scratches. She needs to hide them. Although it has only five, the two were deep and she needed to put tape on them.

She heaved a deep sigh and wiped her tears away. Guess, she needs to wear long sleeves and put concealer to hide her wound.

Ivy knew that even though Wyatt will go home after his trip abroad, after two days, he will leave her again.

She already knew her husband’s schedule. He’s a busy man, but as his wife, she understands. He’s doing it for his family.

‘But never for you,’ shouted the other corner of her mind.

She shook her head and fixed herself. She needs to get down and prepare to get crash with those witches.

Eva instructed her to buy groceries today and even if her body hurt as she didn’t have proper rest, she will still obey.

‘Those people are unbelievable. I cleaned the house until the evening, wearing those scratches from Piper, yet they don’t want me to get proper rest?’ she pondered as she stepped out of the bathroom.

Even though Wyatt doesn’t seem to be much in love with her, he never treated her like trash, unlike his mother and sister. But even if she’s experiencing these sufferings, she can still endure everything and as much as possible, she doesn’t want to tell Wyatt about her hardships.

When Wyatt is around, she always gives her cheerful smile as if everything is fine.

She vowed to be his wife, after all.

…

“Dude, the stocks in the market for the new business are getting higher. You’re indeed a genius,” Duke Elrod asserted with glee while walking down Reed’s private plane.

Wyatt smiled. “In business, it’s all about taking risks,” he replied.

Duke smiled. “Yeah, right. I wonder how many zeros are there in your bank account.”

“Lots.”

“Arrogant. Anyway, how was your married life? I know as much as possible you’re trying to make it lowkey, but you don’t know how the media swarm into this kind of scoop.”

Wyatt frowned and glanced at Duke. “I can control it. No need to worry. Anyway, call Alice for me and check if she’s taking her meds—”

“I’m not your assistant, dude. Why not tell Ken?”

“He has tasks to do. Just do it a favor. I will compensate,” Wyatt said, making Duke grin.

“Sure, then. And you know what I want,” Duke replied and after that, he entered the car that was parked near the plane.

When Wyatt is on a trip, Alice’s doctor called him about her status and he’s a little bit anxious about it. But he felt relief when he asked his wife about the procedure that they agreed to have been fulfilled and never gets delayed.

…

“I’m fine, Ken. I can manage,” Ivy said to Wyatt’s assistant who was trying to help her with the groceries. As per Eva’s request, she must do the grocery alone. But when she’s stepping out of the mansion, Ken happened to see her and asked her for a ride.

“But Miss. Mr. Reed might get—”

“I am fine. I will take a cab and get back immediately. Just please, don’t make this hard for me. Eva’s eyes are everywhere, Ken, I need to be careful. Wyatt will be here in an hour and I don’t want to cause any trouble,” she smiled, “if he gets back and I didn’t arrive yet, just inform him that I went to buy some goods—that I presented to do it alone.”

Ken heaved a deep sigh, surrendering. He knew that he can’t insist on what he wanted so he nodded. “Yes, Miss. Be careful.”

Ivy smiled widely, “I will. Thanks,” and walked away.

Chapter 2

Several years later…

IVY

The disturbing beep sound of my phone breaks the silence of my surroundings. However, I didn’t bother to look into it. What’s new? I knew it came from my too-good-to-be-true husband.

I let out a sarcastic chuckle as I let myself have a proper rest. But the phone continuously beeped which irritates me.

I grabbed it on the side table and looked into it. I heaved a deep sigh and throw it on my side. Just like I thought, there’s nothing new. The text message came from my husband.

I grimaced when I thought of the word: husband, saying I should go to the hospital and donate blood.

Great.

Donating blood is part of my married life with Wyatt Reed.

My phone beeped again and when I looked at it, it was a notification from the bank, stating that my card received another wire transfer from my husband. The amount of money can make my jaw drop, but who says I need money?

After three years of marriage with Wyatt Reed, all he made me do was to go the hospital and donate blood. He’s active when it’s all about donating my blood.

I donate, and he pays. So, is that normal for people who were married? I bet not. And the funny thing was, he treated me like a stranger. If not because of my blood, I was nothing.

And the blood that I donate or sells as he was paying for it, I gave it to Alice-the-bitch-Perez. And this month, they get blood from me thrice. It is too much that I can feel my body weaken.

Also, yesterday, I was soaked in the rain which makes me catch a cold and fever. That’s why I only stayed at home, trying to have a good sleep on my soft comfy bed.

I was about to close my eyes again when I heard my phone beep for the third time. Frowning, I reached for it and my forehead creased when I read a message from an unknown number, stating: “There’s no such thing as a real Mrs. Reed. For the past three years, you have brazenly held that position. However, did you get full attention from Wyatt? So, if I were you, I’d go out and get a rope and hang myself. Remember this, you’re nothing more but a slut!”

Slut?

Am I a slut?

I gave up my family and friends for three years just because of this marriage, and now, someone will call me that word. The shock and anger linger inside me that I wanted to punch the person who just sent the message.

That kind of word is below the belt—especially since I knew that I was not like that. My grip on the phone tightened and suddenly I heard a beeping sound.

A snapshot of my husband sleeping blissfully, with his lovely facial characteristics making me swoon, appeared when I opened the message. And it was Alice Perez who was resting on his shoulder. Even though their eyes were close together, I was able to spot a disturbing difference.

Why does the corner of Alice’s lips was slightly raised? Geez, self, you’re imagining things again.

I was about to put down my phone when it rings. I frowned when I read the name of the caller. When I answered it, Eva Reed’s voice roared on the line, she’s Wyatt’s mother.

“Ivy! Have you lost track of the date? Hurry up and cook, the servant is off today!” she exclaimed which made me smirk, and then hung up the phone silently.

People around me that are connected to my husband were treating me like a slave.

When it comes to Wyatt, I have always been careful.

Everyone in the company of Wyatt thought that I couldn’t be a secretary, but I still did my best.

Wyatt’s mother and even his sister, treat me like their maid. They were odd and finicky to me. They let me cook, wash, and clean for them. And all of this, I didn’t dare to tell Wyatt to avoid trouble.

I’d grown accustomed to it by this point.

I am willing to put up with the ridicule of others for the sake of Wyatt.

And Wyatt thinking that everything was fine around me, seemed to have forgotten about me, his wife, except that I needed to work with his instructions on the company, asking me to donate blood and wiring me money.

I took a deep breath and heaved a deep sigh. At this moment, I’m tired that I seem to be unable to hold on.

From that photo and message, I knew it was Alice who sent it. And this is not the first time that Alice has gotten under my skin.

I was able to laugh off those cruel and mean-spirited comments from others, but that photo of Wyatt and Alice absolutely shattered my self-esteem.

Feelings of embarrassment and loneliness washed over me. Is it possible that three years of marriage was just a joke?

I frowned when an idea came to my mind. The relationship between me and Wyatt, this joked relationship should end.

I scrolled back to Wyatt's message. I made up my mind and didn’t hesitate to send these words to him: “Let’s divorce.” Then tapped the send button.

When I saw that it was delivered, I felt confident in that decision, despite the fact that I was in a daze.

And after a few seconds, my phone rang, and the word ‘husband’ flashed on the screen.

I can picture his face right now—seemingly confused and angry.

“Ivy…” my eyes widened when I felt that coldness in his voice, “What’s the matter?” he asked. Which makes me smirk. His voice became different all of a sudden, it became warmer. However, his next words seemingly boil my blood in anger. “You are free to set your price. According to the doctor, Alice is still in danger—”

“Wyatt, let’s meet at the Supreme Court,” she cut in and hung up the phone.

After a few seconds, a text message appeared in my inbox, stating that my bank just received another one million wire transfer from Wyatt which makes me laugh.

My frantic banter was accompanied by an overwhelming stream of my tears.

I waited for a couple of minutes before I decided to get up and change my clothes. I can’t waste time—I don’t want to prolong this anymore. I had enough.

Despite the fever and cold that I had, I still managed to get out of the house and took a cab toward the California Supreme Court.

Wyatt called twice while I was on my way but I didn’t bother to answer it. After that, he never dares to call me again until I reached the building of CSC.

I was sitting in the waiting area with a pale face, patiently waiting for him. And after an hour, he came with a frigid expression, looking down at me with his cold eyes.

I saw how he clenched his jaw as he approaches me. “What is your problem, Ivy? What exactly is the problem? Why do you need to think of this all of a sudden?” Madness lingers in his voice but I never dared to leave his eyes. He pinched the bridge of his nose and closes his eyes for a while, meaning he was trying to calm himself.

When he locked his gaze on mine again, I can’t help but to gasped and my lips parted in surprise. I don’t want the coldness in his eyes. I don’t want his blank stares… but I need to handle it to get what I want.

“Look, I know you donated too much for this month but I did pay you—”

“Let’s divorce,” I interrupted, lifting my head since I was sitting while he was standing in front of me.

I don’t want to say anything to him. All I wanted is for us to get a divorce. “It’s easy for us to get the divorce paper since we don’t have kids. We can only get it for an hour—”

“Don’t make things that you will regret later,” he uttered, wearing his deep chilly voice.

I scoffed as I stared at him. Wyatt is still the same, he got perfect features—a Greek god-like face and well-defined which fascinated me in the beginning. But the truth that he never dared to consider me as his wife, breaks me into pieces.

I don’t want to make him furious at me, but things will be different now.

Three years were enough to be his humble another half.

“If I will regret something the most,” I smiled wistfully. I thought of this many times and I wanted to get straight to the point, “that was marrying you, three years ago,” I uttered and stood up when I heard my name.

“Let’s go, it’s our turn now,” I added and started to walk to the office of the judge that will grant our divorce certificate.

“Are you sure this is what you wanted?” Wyatt asked, suddenly while he equaled my pace.

I glanced at him and nodded. I am already here and there’s no turning back.

The pain is too much that I need to choose myself over him.

I wanted to burst into laughter and cry out loud.

Wyatt agreed with the divorce. It’s not that I wanted him to stop me. That he will try to say something that might change my mind but I heard nothing but “Alice needs blood, she’s ill...” so, there was no reason for me to stop this anymore. I just found out my worth for him. I am nothing but a source of blood, and that was clear.

And here I am, holding the pen as I scribbled my signature above my printed name. Soon, after I finish signing, I let go of the pen since my hand started to tremble. When I looked up at Wyatt, his forehead creased as his gaze went down to my hand. I hide it then at my back.

Wyatt picked up the pen and swiftly signed above his name.

The judge then pressed the seal and signed it. And there, I can see the signed golden paper. Our divorce certificate.

We easily got one since it’s an uncontested divorce. We don’t have to go to the hearing since we both agree with it and we still don’t have any kids.

When we got their divorce certificate, I exited the room. I walked straight and didn’t bother to look back when suddenly, a force grabbed me by the arm, making me stop. I cursed inside my head before I turned to face him.

“Alice needs a blood transfusion today. I texted you earlier about it. You need to give—”

I scoffed which cut off the hum of his words. “Wyatt, I won’t waste another drop of blood for her. I don’t care even if she dies,” I uttered which makes his grip on my arm tighten. Seems he wants to squeeze it until my arm runs out of blood. I wiggled and he did let go of my arm.

I saw how anger came across Wyatt’s eyes and how he clenched his jaw. “Alice is sick and you dared to curse her like that?”

I let out a sarcastic laugh. For the last time, Wyatt has not forgotten my worth… Alice’s human blood bank.

“Don’t forget that the condition of our marriage, three years ago, was for you to donate blood at any time,” he asserted.

Hearing Wyatt’s words and being slapped by the truth, I was in excruciating pain as if someone had pierced my heart with a sharp knife.

Yes! I married him because I agreed to supply blood whenever Alice Perez needs it, making me the rare human blood bank!

Tears started to overflow in my eyes blurring my vision. I met his customary coldness under his sword brows with my glistening eyes. My haughty and callous laughter expanded my smile and my tears suddenly drip down my cheeks.

In hindsight, I should have clearly known that I am nothing more than just a lowly human blood bank.

I nodded as I wiped my tears away. “Don’t worry, I’ll make one final donation of my precious blood, and settle up any outstanding debt,” I asserted which makes him grin.

I gave one more look at Wyatt, unsure of what his grin meant, before turning around and leaving him.

As I stepped out of the building, I took a cab and make my way to the hospital. I paid for my fare and hurriedly stepped outside the cab. When I got inside the hospital, I walked my way towards Alice’s private room on the left wing of the hospital. I pushed the door and saw several nurses and doctors, surrounding Alice’s bed while they asked and checked for her precious health.

When I met Alice’s eyes, she flashed a smile at me. And I don’t know what to think of it if it’s genuine or sarcastic.

“Ivy,” she uttered my name as I approached her side, “you’re finally here. Look, I am still not in the best shape. I’m sorry if my health bothers you a lot. And I am worried that your body breaks down—”

“You send the text message, right?” I strode over with a melancholy expression on my face. I don’t want any diversion and came straight to the point.

Alice is the only person that I knew that will send that. And the photo is a piece of clear evidence.

Silence filled the room and just the beeping sound from those machines can be heard. I didn’t wait for her answer and just slapped her face which makes her scream in surprise.

WYATT

Feeling agitated, I massage my temple with a frown. I cussed inside my head. Something is not right with Ivy—why all of a sudden that she wanted a divorce? It was clear at the beginning that we agreed with the condition that she needs to donate blood.

I don’t know what to think anymore, I have too many problems that I need to face. I never thought that Ivy and I will come to this point.

After three years of marriage, I thought I knew her already. I thought that I will never do this thing.

I did feel guilty when Ivy needs to supply blood thrice this month, but I thought she was okay with it since I never heard any complaint from her.

Ivy is beautiful and charming. She’s kind and really suitable for me as my wife, despite the fact that she’s the supplier of blood for Alice. However, she suddenly filed a divorce which makes me upset.

Nonetheless, divorce doesn’t matter to me.

I shook my head and let go of the irritable feeling about what had just happened. Well, I know, Ivy will still run to me if she’s broke. I am sure that she will seek my help if she needs it.

When I can’t see Ivy, I then drive my car toward the hospital and walked my way to Alice’s room. Soon as I opened the door of her room, my eyes widened when I saw how Ivy slapped Alice in the face.

Anger filled in as I took a bigger step to approach Ivy’s side and grabbed her by the arm. “What do you think you are doing, Ivy?!” I exclaimed in anger as looked into her eyes. However, she didn’t reply.

I looked to the group of medical staff and dismissed them. They then get out of the room.

I glanced at Alice and saw a tint of panic in her eyes. Suddenly, her eyes filled with tears as she glanced at Ivy.

“Why are you accusing me? I didn’t do anything. Y-You just misunderstood—”

“Don’t pretend anymore, I know it’s you,” Ivy cut off as she sneered and looked at Alice.

I frowned when Ivy wiggled which makes me let go of her. She glared at me before she took out her phone inside her sling bag and scroll something into it before she threw it in front of Alice, which landed on the hospital bed.

My eyes widened as I looked at the screen of the phone. I stared exactly at the photo as a surprise, filled in.

I frowned and glanced at Alice. Alice’s face flashes an unpleasant expression.

I knew that photo was secretly taken because I don’t remember letting someone take one.

Yesterday, was a hectic day for me because of many projects and meetings to deal with at the company. When I visited Alice, I couldn’t help but take a nap for a while.

I glanced at Ivy and saw how she snide a sly smirk on her lips. “As I said, I am here to settle everything.” Her eyes pierced into Alice. “This is what you owe me, Alice,” she uttered.

I could feel the madness in her voice.

Ivy laughs. Which I knew was sarcastic. “Don’t worry, Alice… Wyatt and I were already separated. I hope you’re already satisfied with it. And I wish you all the best in the future,” she asserted.

This time, no matter how I think stupidly, I already understand how the photo got into Ivy. My eyes were covered with frost as I looked at Alice’s frail face.

“I… I…Wyatt, it was just a misunderstanding. Ivy misunderstood it. I didn’t do anything. I didn’t take this photo,” she said, stuttering as she grabbed Ivy’s phone, “someone has framed me!” Alice exclaimed which makes me frown.

Suddenly, Alice pulled the hem of my polo. “Wyatt, I can apologize to Ivy. I swear, I really don’t know who send the picture.”

I pinched the bridge of my nose and let myself get calm. “Why do you need to exaggerate things, Ivy?” I asked as I faced her. “It’s just a photo. You don’t need to judge and make decisions just because of this photo. Did you want a divorce, just because of this?” I asked as I stared into her eyes.

I clenched my fist and sighed. “Let’s talk about this after you donate blood for Alice,” I said and walked towards the table to call the doctor using the telephone.

After a few seconds, the doctor came with a nurse on his side.

“Are you sure Alice needs another blood transfusion?” I asked which makes the doctor stunned for a moment.

I saw how the doctor glanced at Alice first before he nodded at me. “Y-Yes, Miss Perez felt dizzy and even collapsed earlier which makes her leg gets injured. Thus, she really needs a blood transfusion today,” the doctor said.

I arched my brow. “Injured? Then what are you waiting for?”

The doctor nodded. “Yes, yes… we’ll do it now, Sir,” he replied.

I nodded and looked at Ivy who was now staring at me. I saw how she let out a frail smile on her lips. And I am seeing a tint of pain in those perfect eyes of hers.

Does that photograph hurt her that much to decide to ruin the marriage that we had?

And how could Alice take that if she was beside me?

What if Alice was right—that someone framed her?

Unless I gave her a reason, Ivy shouldn't be making decisions on her own. That picture is worthless.

My forehead creased when I saw her close her eyes and massage her temple. I don’t know if I did feel it right earlier, but when I touches her, her temperature seems high. And it was just this time that I took a chance to scrutinize her. I know something is not right.

Is she sick?

I shook my head. Never mind. Maybe I am just overthinking.

Suddenly, Ivy moved closer to Alice.

I saw how she lifted and pulled down the white blanket, wearing her cold and domineering eyes.

My eyes widened a little bit when I saw Alice’s leg, wrapped in a bandage.

“W-What are you doing?” Alice asked as she moved inward, trying to move away from Ivy. However, Ivy formed smirked and suddenly pulled the bandage that was wrapped around her legs.

I stared at the wound I knew that it just came from a scratch.

“So, this is serious that you even need a blood transfusion?” Ivy’s mocking tone was visible in her voice.

“Ivy, you—Wyatt it’s not what you think,” Alice uttered as she turned to my side, “My body is weak and… and the blood transfusion makes me recover fast,” she added as she trembled, seems like Alice’s hiding something.

I was about to talk when Ivy laughed.

“Injured? Again? For about three to four times a month?” she asked sarcastically which makes me frown. “I see,” suddenly Ivy nodded her head and let out a smile, “you’re trying to drain my blood, right?” her voice was cold, “sorry, but I will not give you another chance,” she added and looked at me, meeting my gaze, “let Wyatt marry another woman to fit my place,” she asserted. And after that, Ivy left the room.

IVY

I slumped weakly on a chair in the corridor as soon as I exited the room, and I felt as if I had been abandoned by the entire world at that moment.

Tears streamed down my cheeks as I dialed someone’s number, my voice choking with tiredness as I tried to express my rage at what had just happened.

“Cooper,” I uttered, my breath was too heavy but I manage to get up.

Silence filled in for a while and then I wiped my tears away. “I wanted to go home,” I uttered as I started to walk away from Alice’s room. I don’t care if people are looking in my direction, watching how I look miserable.

Cooper groaned softly and his voice was conniving, “Where are you? I’ll pick you up.”

I put down the phone and continue to walk my way outside the hospital.

Chapter 3

WYATT

Furiously, I dragged the attending doctor outside the room, my face gloomy and my fury repressed in my deep eyes.

“Injuries to the lower legs which we knew both that it’s just a scratch!” I exclaimed. “Is it necessary to do blood transfusion at this level as well? Is that what your hospital is capable of?” Anger filled in my whole system while throwing those words.

After I thought about how fragile Ivy looked whenever she donated blood, since he was always there when Alice was having a blood transfusion, I felt a deep sense of shame and weirdness in my heart.

Seeing my anger, the doctor was seeming shaken to his core and dared not try to cover anything up.

“M-Mr. Reed, it’s Miss Perez’s orders and our hospital has nothing to do with it. Miss Perez also claimed that you had consented, and since you are always present when she commands it, we have no choice but to comply.”

Alice? Why does she need to do it?

And the thing that Ivy demanded our divorce was just because of that picture, which Ivy thought Alice send to her.

Being honest about my feelings for my wife aside from my loyalty to our marriage and overall contentment… made me say that living this way isn’t difficult for me to continue for the rest of my life.

And ever since I got married, I hadn’t contemplated divorce. I never think about it.

If Ivy thinks that I have something with Alice, she should tell to me and I am willing to distance myself from Alice. After all, there are no unbreakable ties in our marriage. I am not making an affair with anyone.

“You may leave,” I uttered to the doctor, who was already trembling in fear.

I massaged my temple and tried to call Ivy. However, her phone can’t be reached. It seems like she turned it off. Desperate to see my wife, I tried to hack the security system of the hospital to take a peek at their surveillance cameras. And successfully, I got in.

I frowned while I was staring at the screen of my phone. I an sure that it was just ten minutes ago since Ivy left.

Why does the footage be all white as if someone’s hacked it and deleted the scene ten minutes ago?

My brows wrinkled and my thin lips pressed into a straight line, I felt an inconceivable emotion in my chest, and my deep gray eyes were like the depths of the ocean; they were incomprehensible.

We were divorced now, where does she have to go?

Madly, I called the head of my bodyguard and the man rushed in my direction. “I haven’t been able to locate my wife, and the monitoring system was unexpectedly hacked ten minutes ago.”

The irritated feeling that persisted after Ivy left was amplified and my heart felt uneasy. Damn it!

“Look for her and let me know as soon as you find her,” I uttered before putting down my phone and starting to walk my way out of the hospital.

I don’t want to claim that Alice was the reason for Ivy’s sudden decision but no matter how I want to disregard it, it always flaunts in my mind.

IVY

I was staring at the luxurious Italian style of the interior of my room, the familiar limited-edition luxury furnishings, and the wide range of high-end products. As soon as I saw all of these, my lovely room, which I hadn’t seen for a long time, I couldn’t help myself not to cry.

It was my personal living place after all.

“What are you crying for? About the divorce? Why, can’t the Morgans afford to raise you?”

Upon hearing the elderly and gruff voice, I cried even harder as I turned my gaze to where the voice came from.

In there, I saw the legendary CEO of the Morgan Corporation, Leo Morgan, approaching my side.

“Daddy,” I mumbled and run towards my father, hugging him tightly as I cried even harder.

He sighed. I knew he was distressed and mad at me. Ever since I was a child, I never suffered just like what I did beside Wyatt Reed.

If it’s not about my marriage, he can easily destroy the Reeds and beat that bastard to death a long time ago.

“Ivy, my daughter,” my dad started, “three years are enough. Wyatt didn’t even fall in love with you. So, it’s time for you to engage yourself in our company.” He caressed my hair lovingly before I let go of his embrace.

I wiped my tears away. “Don’t worry, Dad. I promise not to do anything stupid ever again,” I stated.

People rebel and flee to search for so-called, real love.

Just because of love, I gave up everything even my true self and where I originally belongs. I hide my identity for the sake of my love for Wyatt.

I saw how dad flashed a smile, as if he was relieved that I finally came back.

“I asked your brother to come along so that you could get to know the people in the company and you must pick a good day to declare your identity,” he said.

After a few moments, Windy Adams, my best friend at the same time my best enemy, rushed toward my room, eagerly to see me.

“I miss you, bitch!”

When I hid my identity and married Wyatt Reed, Windy was against it. However, it was my decision, and she couldn't do anything about it. When I got married, we lost communication.

And this time, I saw the longing that Windy hides came out. She misses me so much that she is happy to know that I have already divorced Wyatt.

We chatted for a while until she wanted to see my divorce certificate.

I showed the certificate.

I sat on the bed while Windy pulled the chair on my vanity mirror.

"Damn, that Reed. Anyway, are you sure you won't regret this?" she asked.

I shook my head as my brows furrowed. “Regret has nothing to do with me. He will be a complete stranger to me," I replied.

Windy agreed. "You did the right thing. I don't know your reason why you made a decision like this, but I could feel that he did something that pushed you to do it.”

I didn't utter a word and heaved a deep sigh. Then suddenly, I realized that my things were still in Wyatt’s house. "My things are still at Reed’s house—"

"Then let's go and get it," Windy interrupted.

I thought about it for a while before I nodded.

Chapter 4

When Ivy and Windy go to Wyatt's house, Ivy does not anticipate that upon her return, she will see Wyatt's mom, Eva Reed.

To Eva, seeing Ivy with another lowly human being, which she doesn't know, anger boosted her system. She looked at Ivy and Windy in disgust.

"Ivy, how dare you bring a lowly friend of yours in here? Didn't I tell you that this is not open to your friends?"

The old lady's words don't seem appealing to Windy's ears. Thus, she stepped forward and clenched her jaw before she spoke. "Who are you referring to as a lowly friend? And how could an old woman think lowly of an individual? Is that because you're rich?" Windy asked as she couldn't control her temper.

Windy could see what Ivy faced the past few years. She now has an idea why she asked for a divorce.

Eva held her face high; seems like she wanted to pick a fight with Windy. "And who do you think you are? How dare you talk back at me? Not because you're wearing," she paused and scrutinized Windy from head to toe, "a fake brand of clothes, you can now throw things on me. You, lowly! I have seen a lot with the same skins as yours. Just like Ivy—"

"She is my friend. Please, be respectful," Ivy cut the hum of Eva's words.

Eva arched her brow. "I don't care if she’s your friend. You two smell the same. Gold diggers. You marry my son because of his money," she uttered.

Guess the old woman doesn't still have an idea about Ivy's true identity.

"Please, have some respect—"

"Respect?" Eva exclaimed. "Do you deserve respect? We accepted you, Ivy. The Reed accepted you. My son gives you shelter, food, clothes, and money. And now, you dared to bring a piece of shit just like you? And look how she talked back to me?!" Eva's voice roared. "Get out of this house! You poor creatures are dirtying the magnificent floor of this house!" Eva added.

Windy frowned and laughed sarcastically as she looked at Ivy. "A piece of shit?" Windy arched her brow. "You've tolerated this kind of treatment for the past three years?" she asked. A pity for her friend can be seen in her eyes. "Ivy…" she mumbled.

Ivy didn't reply.

"Well, if you can bear it, I can't!" Windy uttered, pushing Eva, almost making her fall on the floor. She clenched her jaw and glared at Eva. "If it weren't for Ivy, I would have destroyed you. You and your piece of money and your freaking face. Great, so what if I stepped into your magnificent floor?" Windy mimicked Eva's way of saying the word: magnificent. "You don't have the right to look lowly on us! We're all equal, and don't push me with my limits. If Ivy doesn't want to beat you, I can. Even if you're an old wrinkled woman," Windy threatened.

Windy's words make Eva tremble. Fear and anger are visible in her eyes.

"You… you—Ivy," Eva turned in Ivy's direction, "if you won't stop your friend. I-I will throw you out—"

"I… I…blah blah blah…" Windy mimicked. "Scared?"

Ivy didn't stop Windy.

Eva deserves it. The old lady is boastful that she thinks she can downgrade individuals regardless of their status in life.

"I just need to take my belongings," Ivy uttered, not minding Eva's glares at her. "It won't take long. After that, we are going to leave the house," she added as she walked inside the house and climbed upstairs.

Ivy endures everything for Wyatt. But she realizes that she's that stupid and dumb for the past three years.

She never bothers to grab her clothes and just carries her documents. They're more important than her things. After that, she proceeded directly downstairs.

Downstairs, Eva and Windy continue to pierce their angry eyes toward each other.

"Done. Let's go," Ivy uttered and grabbed Windy by her arm.

They started to walk away when Eva called her name.

"Ivy, I will inform Wyatt about this. And even if you beg and kneel to stop me, I will make sure that—" Eva didn't finish her words when Ivy cast a scornful glance back towards her.

A sly smirk crept into Ivy's lips. "Oh. I forgot to tell you that I divorced your son. And no matter how much you cry and plead, I will never return to this spot," she said and left.

Eva's body stiffened when she heard about it. ‘Divorce? A lowly woman like Ivy initiated a divorce?’

She snorted and immediately dialed her son's phone number. And in just three rings, Wyatt picked up his phone.

"Son, Ivy divorced you?"

Wyatt frowned. "How do you know about it? Did you see her?" he asked simultaneously.

"You are divorced?" Happiness lit Eva's eyes when she exclaimed it. "Oh. Thanks, God. A woman like Ivy is unworthy of our family, son. She dared to ascend like a phoenix, but it turns out she's just a dove. I told you; I have seen her before with different men—"

"Where is she?" Wyatt interrupted as his eyes darkened and his grip on the phone tightened when he heard his mom's words. He was unable to locate her after she mysteriously disappeared from the hospital. And he had only one thought in his mind: he desired to see her!

"She left already, and I need to check if she stole anything!" Eva uttered. "You didn't give her money, didn't you?"

Wyatt was taken aback by his mother's hostility toward Ivy. He thought his wife got along with his family and had always been at peace. And now, he was startled that his mother was so displeased with Ivy. His mother's dissatisfaction was so evident.

Wyatt dislikes his mother's behavior, which irritates him, and he hangs up the phone. He felt a pang in his chest when a thought came across his mind. It's possible that Ivy was experiencing his mother's cruelty which might be one of the reasons she sought a divorce.

He left his office and rushed towards his house.

When he got home, it was their room which he looked at first, and everything was still there, even the card he had given her to pay for their bills. However, her identification card inside the drawer had vanished.

He sat on the couch inside their room as he placed his elbow on his legs and wiped his face with his palms. He closes his eyes, and thoughts keep on rushing inside his mind.

After a few moments, Eva knew that her son was already home. She then approaches the room. "The L'Incomparable necklace that was inside the safe is missing, and it's worth fifty-five million dollars," she asserted. "I know it," she walks near her son, her hands on her waist, "Ivy must have stolen the necklace. I'm going to call the cops!" she exclaimed, anger lingering in her eyes.

Wyatt frowned as he met his mother's eyes. "It's not her," he asserted, which makes Eva's forehead crease.

"Then where is it? It was pretty obvious that Ivy was the one who stole—"

"Mom, leave me alone for a while, and don't you dare call the cops," he uttered.

Eva scoffed and couldn't believe Wyatt's words.

Wyatt knew that Ivy couldn't steal something because she didn't even know the password to the safe. How could she possibly steal it?

It's just money. Ivy is more important to him.

Suddenly, he couldn't even recall what jewelry he had sent to his wife in the past three years.

"Damn it!" he cursed as he stood up, and he was a little bit surprised when he saw his mom, who was still standing there.

He just ignored her and left the room as he rushed towards his car and drove away from his house. When he goes meters away, he pulls over on the expansive space. He opened the door of his car and lit a cigarette.

On the other hand, Eva couldn't believe that her son could ignore her. Her anger arises. She will not give up on destroying that horrible woman. A mischievous smile crept on her lips when she thought of a plan.

Chapter 5

IVY

“That Eva is getting on my nerves, Ivy. Your mother-in-law is literally a wicked one,” Windy snorted when we arrived at the mansion.

I heaved a deep sigh and let out a smile. “Don’t mind her—”

“Huh, if you could bear that stupid treatment,” Windy shook her head, “but not me. If it weren’t for her age, I would’ve done worse than pushing her.”

“She’s an elder, Windy. Stop with it,” I uttered and let out a soft chuckle.

“I don’t care. I want to teach her how to behave in front of us. A lowly people,” she asserted sarcastically. “And she even criticized the brand of my get-up?” she added.

I sighed again. “Just ignore her. She’s nothing. And I will not let myself face that witch again,” I replied.

Our conversations continued, and we laughed while we walked our way to the living room.

I stopped walking when I saw my brother, Cooper, who usually doesn’t come out during the daytime. The man is sitting on the couch and reading a newspaper.

Cooper didn’t see us, but I know he could hear our laughter. He continued scanning the newspaper. I rushed towards him and hugged him at the back. He was the one who picked me up at the hospital but vanished when he sent me to the mansion, and now, he’s here again.

And for three years since they cut ties, I miss my brother.

“Cooper, I missed you,” I whispered at the back of his ears and loosened the hug when he put down the newspaper and stood up as he faced my direction.

I arched my brow. “Why did you vanish the last time you returned me here?” I asked.

Cooper smiled and approached her.

I throw myself on him again, hugging my brother so tightly that he returns it.

When we got out of each other’s embrace, he let out a smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “I attended an important meeting,” he replied. “Anyway, I brought you presents,” he added and pointed the paper bags to the floor.

My eyes widened when I saw it. Cooper never failed to spoil me like this. And after three years, I could experience receiving luxurious gifts again from my brother.

Windy frowned as she watched Ivy’s reaction. “If only you didn’t pretend to be a poor woman—”

“Windy, I almost forgot; I also brought your favorite perfume,” Cooper cut off. He walked to the side, grabbed the small silver paper bag, and gave it to Windy.

Windy reached for it. “Thank you,” she replied.

Cooper nodded and returned his gaze to me. I started to look at what was inside those paper bags with a smile on my lips and looked at him again.

Cooper’s forehead was slightly creased.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

Cooper heaved a deep sigh. “Ivy,” he called my name. Ivy then looked at him. “Ryan participates in close scientific research projects in foreign laboratories and cannot return for the time being. Sebastian participates in international film festivals and will return in a few days, and you’re going to accompany me to the company these days,” he uttered.

I slightly winced, but I know I couldn’t escape now. I then nodded in accord.

MIDNIGHT, my phone rang, which roared inside my room. With tired eyes, I reached for my phone that was on the side table.

“Hello?” I uttered and never dared to look for the caller ID.

Windy’s angry voice roared on the other line, which awakened my sleepy cells. “What’s your problem?” I asked.

“Look at the internet and the Reeds accusing you that you stole something from them. And if you will not return it. They will call the cops and pick you up.”

I frowned, and I suddenly grabbed my laptop inside my drawer and went online. And the article that came out when I searched the Reeds, the piece is all about her.

It’s an official statement from Reed’s Corporation that angered me.

The information states that after my divorce from Wyatt Reed, I stole a piece of precious jewelry before I left. Which is a lie.

“How dare they accuse you like that? Steal? Seriously?”

I just realize that Windy is still on the line.

I pressed my lips and looked into the comments, and I scoffed when I read some of the comments saying that I have an evil character. The netizens threw ne ridiculous words in the comment section.

I scrolled back and stared at the photo of the jewelry. I had seen it, but it was impossible that I will steal it. I don’t even know the password of their safe. And the fact that I came from a wealthy family, why would I steal that piece?

“Thanks for informing me, Windy. I’ll hang up now,” I said and ended the call. My grip on it tightened as I gritted my teeth.

How dare Wyatt accuse me of stealing jewelry from them.

Is this how he threw things at me just because we are already divorced?

Does Calum think I will get back to him just because he did this?

Frowning, I dialed Cooper’s number, and it won’t take long before he answered my call.

“Hey, The Glamour Entertainment firm is under my name, right? Who manages it by now?” I asked immediately.

“It’s Blaze, and I saw the news. I will let him handle matters on the inter—”

“No, I’m going to take care of it myself,” I said coldly and dropped the call.

Those Reed will see what they’re looking for as I will not be the same Ivy that they can mock whenever they want.

I dialed someone else phone number to ask for help from a private investigator to look for the real culprit who stole that necklace. And the man on the other line told me that he would hand the result to me first thing tomorrow.

Of course, as I want it urgently, the price is a little bit higher. Well, I have the money. So, it’s no big deal.
