Chapter 1: Shades Of Pain

In the spacious corridor of the hospital, the sound of high heels hitting the marble floor was crisp and clear. Avery Foster tied her black hair to the back of her head and wore her medical gown. The stethoscope hanging from her neck emitted a cold, metallic luster.

"Doctor Foster, all three operations are scheduled for the afternoon. There will be an academic exchange at 6 PM …" The intern followed closely behind her, methodically explaining the schedule for the day.

"Doctor Foster, the emergency department just sent a patient over. She bled a lot, so you should quickly go take a look," said the young nurse, hurriedly as she ran in.

"Yes." Avery nodded and quickly walked toward the emergency room.

Lying on the bed was a pale-faced woman with disheveled hair. She was crying out in pain.

Beside the sickbed, the man's handmade suit tailored to fit him was wrinkled and dyed bright red, without a trace of embarrassment. He stood there with a calm and composed expression. The outline of his face was as clear as a knife's edge. His thin lips were pursed, and his expression was indifferent to the point that it was almost cold.

Avery hurried over, but when she clearly saw the man's face, she was instantly stunned on the spot, her face turning deathly pale. At this time, the man was also looking at her. After a brief moment of shock, a faint smile appeared in her eyes.

It seemed unfortunate that she was working in this hospital and crossed paths with him.

Avery quickly shifted her gaze and looked at the patient on the bed. When she lifted the corner of the blanket, she saw that the woman's lower body was covered in blood, and her skirt was dyed a bright red.

"The child can no longer be preserved. Prepare for the operation,” Avery said to the nurse. Even she couldn't help but admire her calmness at this moment.

The nurse handed the confirmation of the operation over to the man. He received it and quickly signed the name ‘Blake Anderson’ with the golden pen in his hands.

The operation went on for more than two hours, and the child was drained before she could get to the hospital. All Avery could do was clean the womb and minimize the damage.

After finishing, she walked out of the operating room. She took off her mask and threw it into the treatment box along with her blue surgical gown. She stood there washing her hands when suddenly a deep, magnetic male voice came from behind her. It was a charming voice, but it was mixed with a hint of coldness.

"Aren’t you going to ask me?"

She did not turn her head back because she knew who it was. She had heard this voice for a whole three years.

She washed her hands, dried them under the sterilizer, and turned slowly.

Blake was standing at the door, his tall and straight posture was mostly covered in shadows, his slender fingers were holding onto the cigarette butt, and he was casually exhaling smoke. His handsome face was hidden behind the fog, and the feeling was so hazy that it was almost unreal.

"What about you? Aren’t you gonna explain?" Avery met his deep gaze, easy to be indifferent, and her tone was surprisingly calm. However, the hand hiding behind her back was trembling uncontrollably. She was waiting for his answer. As long as he said he hadn't done anything wrong, she believed him, even if it was a lie.

However, he didn't. His cold silence completely disappointed her.

Blake carried a small-time woman in his arms and openly stepped into the territory of her legal wife. This action was no different from a slap to her face. However, he was even stingy in giving her an explanation.

At the same time, Blake was currently looking at her with narrowed eyes. He really wanted to tear off the indifferent mask on her face. Married for three years, no matter what he did, no matter how much he provoked, her response would always be cold and unfazed. He really doubted if this woman had a heart.

"Avery, do you know what it means if a woman doesn't even have the most basic of jealousy? I really don't know what you think of our marriage. " He threw the cigarette butt that had yet to be completely burnt off onto the ground, stamped it out, and then coldly turned around.

As Avery watched his retreating back, her vision gradually turned blurry with tears. The smile on her lips was bitter as well as sarcastic. Her marriage was to be left alone in a big empty house. Her marriage lasted from hope until despair.

She smiled bitterly, it turned out she was still crying because of this man.

After a while, at her office, a person outside the door symbolically knocked on it a few times. Before she could say 'please enter', the door had already been pushed open and Dina who was dressed in the nurse's uniform walked in, throwing a magazine on the table. It was another boring gossip magazine.

In the recent few issues, the headlines were all about the romantic affairs between the President of Anderson Corporation, Blake Anderson, and the popular model and actress, Feliz Cruz. In this regard, Avery was already used to it.

"Hey, what’s wrong? Are you crying?” Dina saw that Avery’s eyes were red, and there were still some tears on her face that she had not wiped away in time.

"No, it was dust.” Avery lowered her head and vaguely answered.

Dinna shrugged her shoulders, looking disappointed. “Yeah, right. Just continue lying. However, it's easy to deceive others, but it’s difficult to deceive me.”

Avery laughed bitterly and did not say a word. The dull pain in her heart was so clear.

"I heard your man brought you a problem again. That woman just went to the high trunk ward, and it was you who had performed the abortion! Seriously, Avery, are you out of your mind? Why would you help her?” Dina taunted.

Avery picked up the stethoscope and stood up, her gaze as calm as water, "She was brought into the hospital, and I only had a doctor-patient relationship with her. Anything else, you want to say? If none, go check the room for tonight’s operation."

"Wait a moment!" Dina called out to her and passed a test tube to her, "this is Feliz’s embryo specimen."

Avery painfully turned around, tightly biting her lips, and coldly threw out words, "Throw it away." That thing made her feel nauseous just by looking at it.

"Avery, you have to understand this as a married person. If you use this to make DNA, even if you will divorce your husband, you still hold his blood.”

Avery smashed the patient’s case onto the table, and lost control of herself, "I said to throw it away, do you not understand? So, what? Married or divorced, it was never up to me. Even if I got a divorce, even if I was compensated, would money make up for the feelings and youth I'd spent in three years? The more I understand it, the more painful it will be for me.”

Chapter 2: Indescribable Feeling

Dina was also angry, she threw the test tube in her hand back into the treatment box, "Fine, let me be nosy." With that, she slammed the door and left.

Avery's body fell against the hard door, her palms covering her eyes, tears continuously flowing out from the gaps of her fingers.

How could the pure Dina understand? If she did that, she would only be bringing about her humiliation. Her wounds were already bleeding profusely, why would she even need to sprinkle salt on them?

She’s hurting. She was not as strong as she had imagined.

With her condition, there was no way for her to operate, so she took sick leave and returned home early.

Her home was a garden house located halfway up the mountain. To be more precise, it was not a home, but a house that Blake bought for her.

Her slender body was nestled in the window, quietly gazing at the scenery of the garden. There were no flowers in her garden, only large patches of golden plane trees.

She remembers the first time she stood here, pointing to the empty garden, and she excitedly said to Blake ‘I want to plant a lot of French parasol trees in the garden.’

Blake only coldly replied, "As you wish."

In fact, she really wanted to tell him that it symbolizes undying love.

There was a drizzle outside the window. In a trance, her memory regressed to three years ago.

That day, she had caught Alex and Willa in bed together. Of the two, one was her boyfriend, and the other was her sister. Willa begged her to give Alex to her as she cried. She said that they truly loved each other.

What else could Avery say? She felt that she was just a joke. Then, she went to a bar and got drunk.

“One more bottle—”

“You’re already drunk, Miss. You must go—”

Avery glared at the bartender. “Don’t you dare—”

“Just give her one. Charge it on me,” a deep yet husky voice blended with the soft music in the bar.

Avery squinted her eyes and turned to the man who moved closer to her. “T-Thanks.”

Blake nodded her head and raised his glass. He was watching Avery the moment she entered the bar. Who wouldn’t recognize nor see the woman? She has all the charm—beauty and brain. She was a well-known doctor and her family is one of the most powerful families in the city.

Blake admits that he had a crush to Avery and now, he can even hear his heart, beating too fast.

“Why are you alone?” he asked, making him cursed inside his head. Stupid question!

Avery arched her brow. She rubbed her eyes, trying to see the man clearly but she can’t. The bartender must be right, she was already drunk.

“Have you tried cheating or being cheated on?” she asked. She wants to at least; lessen the agony she was feeling in the inside.

Blake frowned and drink from his glass. “Why do you ask?”

Avery let out a giggle and slammed the counter. “I want to vent my anger. I want to kill someone, but he is not worth it!”

Blake looked around then to the bartender.

“I’ll leave her to you,” says the bartender before he moved to the other side of the bar counter.

Blake sighed. “What’s wrong?”

“Can I trust you?” she asked, making Blake grinned.

“Maybe?” He took a sip from his glass once again.

Avery stood up and walked closer to Blake, making the latter’s body tensed.

‘Damn it!’ Blake cursed inside. He was not expecting this.

“S-Stranger. Can I kiss you?”

Blake’s jaw dropped. Fuck! He was not expecting Avery Foster to be like this.

“You’re drunk.” Blake held her, restraining her not to get closer to him. “I’ll send you home,” he added, as if they were close.

“Home?” Avery laughed. “I don’t want to go home! I want you to kiss me!” she uttered.

“Shit,” Blake cursed. He roamed his eyes around and gazes shooting toward them. “I’ll take you home—”

Avery tried to escaped from his grip but Blake held her tighter. She might trip if he let her go.

“I… I don’t want to go home.”

Blake heaved a deep sigh. “Come on. I’ll drive you—”

“No.” Avery pulled her arm and glared at Blake. “Why don’t you want to kiss me? Am I not attractive?” Tears started to welled up from the corners of her eyes. “Is that why he cheated on me? Does Willa attractive?” She began to sob, making Blake cursed under his breath and didn’t mind others’ stares and carried Avery.

He walked toward the exit at the left wing.

“P-Put me down—”

“Stay still.” Blake clenched his jaw and glared at her.

Avery wiped her tears and pout like a baby. “Why don’t you want to kiss me—”

“I’m not doing it here—”

“Why not?”

Fuck! Blake didn’t know that a drunk Avery Foster is annoying.

Since Avery doesn’t want to go home, Blake then brought her to his house.

“Kiss me…”

Blake body tensed when Avery touched his face while he was carrying her toward his bed. God knows how hard he tries controlling himself not to grant what she wants.

He put her down to his bed. “Get some re—” he didn’t finish his words when Avery pulled his tie, making his lips met landed on hers.

He groaned in shocked and was about to pull up when Avery grabbed his head and deepen the kiss.

Her lips started to move, making Blake’s gripped on the sheet tightened.

‘Stop it, Blake. She’s drunk!’

He tried to resist but she was a teased.

“Kiss me—”

He claimed her lips and started to savor. The taste of the liquor blended into her sweet lips, making it addictive. His hands started to roam around her body. It crawls on her left thigh until it reaches her sensitiveness.

“Ahh…”

Her moan, makes Blake even wanting for more.

Slowly, their clothes fell on the floor, leaving nothing.

Blake cursed under his breath when he felt an electrifying sensation every time, he caresses Avery’s body. His hand started to explore her nakedness. He slipped one finger inside her.

He wants to savor every moment.

“Stop me, before I lost myself—”

“Don’t stop!” Avery uttered when their eyes met.

“I’m a stranger—”

“Come on! I had enough. I don’t care! I want you!” she asserted and pulled him closer as she initiated a deep hot kiss.

The next day, she woke up completely naked on Blake’s bed. The bright red light on the bed sheets stung her eyes, causing her heart to ache as well. She ran away.

However, the next morning, she and Blake’s one-night stand was published in the daily newspaper.

The Anderson and Foster families could not afford to lose their dignity, so they were forced to marry each other.

Unknowingly, it was already pitch-black outside the window. The antique clock on the floor made a low sound, one strike, two chimes, a total of twelve chimes.

The night was dark and quiet, causing people to feel suffocated.

Avery rubbed her aching forehead, then stepped on the soft wool carpet with her bare feet and followed her memories to feel the switch on the wall. However, a slender finger was one step faster than her.

The wall lamp was lit. Perhaps it was because she had stayed in the darkness for too long, the rays of light caused her eyes to ache. She subconsciously closed her eyes.

Blake narrowed his eyes and looked at her, his body emitting a strong smell of alcohol and a faint aroma of tobacco.

"Why did you come back?" Avery blurted out.

"Today is the eighth." He took off his jacket naturally and threw it on the sofa. He then walked into the bathroom. Soon, the sound of running water could be heard.

Avery slumped onto the sofa and laughed bitterly.

Yes, today was the eighth, his only day of the month.

Remembering the wedding night, he calmly told her, "I'm very busy. If there's nothing else, I might not come back. However, our parents are waiting to carry their grandson. You should calculate the date of ovulation and make an appointment with my secretary. "

Therefore, he would only come back on the night of the 8th of every month. The marriage had lasted three years, and for three years they had been together for only forty-eight nights.

Avery felt like a grieving concubine in a harem in ancient times. She had been looking forward to seeing him, but had lost hope in the endless darkness and waiting.

When Blake came out of the bathroom, she was already lying on the bed.

She felt him topple over on her side, the mattress deeply sunken, the clean scent of shower milk in the air.

In the darkness, the familiar large palm caressed her smooth skin without restraint. Cold and aggressive, it climbed up her flat belly.

"Must it be like this? I don't want to do it today.” She suddenly pressed his hand and coldly refused.

His arms were wrapped around her waist, and his warm chest was pressed against her cold back. “Why?" he asked emotionlessly.

"I'm not feeling well today." She spoke half-heartedly, but the next moment, his broad palm had already covered her head. "I don't have a fever. I'm just a bit tired." She pulled his hand off her forehead.

"Great." He snorted and turned away.

Avery was finally relieved. Perhaps this was the only advantage of this man, as she very rarely said no to him. However, as long as she said that, he would never force her to do anything, and that included making love.

Avery woke up in the middle of the night. She saw that the jacket on the sofa was still there and he had not left.

She quietly sat on the bed. Through the slightly opened door, Avery heard the man's gentle voice come from the direction of the balcony, ‘Also, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?’

‘Good girl, I'll go back and accompany you tomorrow …’

Avery held tightly onto the thin blanket on her body. She really wanted to rush out and interrogate him loudly, ‘Blake, is our marriage a joke?’ But she couldn't. There were some things that, once broken, meant they were about to be lost. Right now, this marriage was the only thing she had. She couldn't afford to lose it.

She waited for Blake to drop the call and when she got the perfect timing, she called his name.

“Blake…”

Blake frowned and turned around to face her. “What are you doing here? Aren’t you tired?”

Avery heaved a deep sigh and walked closer to him. “Make love to me, Balke,” she said, softly.

Blake’s jaw clenched as his grip on the phone tightened. “Get some rest—”

“I’m fine.”

“I don’t want something bad happened to you while I am taking you. We can postpone this. Get some rest,” he said and he walked away.

Morning came…

Avery had not slept for the entire night. She fumbled her way into the bathroom and revealed a pale and haggard face in the mirror. She smiled bitterly as her fingertips pressed against her sore temple and used her other hand to grab the foundation powder.

She hurriedly lowered her body to pick it up. Her fingertips stung and the sharp shard ruthlessly cut a deep wound on her palm. Blood immediately gushed out.

"Ahh!" She helplessly fell to the ground and buried her face in her knees. Her shoulders trembled and tears flowed down her face with an indescribable feeling of grievance.

What had she done wrong? Why did she have to suffer?

Chapter 3: Impatience

"What's wrong?" A deep male voice came from the top of her head. There was a hint of impatience in its tone. It was obvious that he had been woken up.

Blake frowned as he looked at the mess on the ground. Fresh blood was dripping down the white marble floor. Avery was curled up on the ground, looking pitiful. “Injured?” he asked.

"None of your business." Her tone was somewhat sharp.

He suddenly snorted, his palm plastered against her round chin, not allowing her to avoid his gaze.

Avery’s eyes were filled with tears. She was bright and beautiful to the point that it made one's heart palpitate.

"Tell me, what are you crying for?" He narrowed his eyes, his breath warm on her pale cheeks.

"My hand hurts." She bit her lips and continued avoiding his sight. Blake’s profound eyes penetrated the depths of human nature, and it even made her feel a little afraid.

She pushed him away and stumbled into the kitchen. After rummaging through the cabinets, she finally found the medicine box. She sat on the floor and applied the medicine to herself. The pain from the disinfectant stung every cell, and her tears rolled in her eyes.

As a doctor, she knew how important hands were to her. However, the pain from her palm was far less than her heart. She felt that a corner of her heart, where she pretended to be fine, was slowly rotting and rotting.

She married him for real. Even though he was always cold to her, even if he rarely came home … Someone once told her that love requires courage. She had bravely loved him, but what she had received was forever a heartless betrayal. Alex, her ex-boyfriend, was like this, Blake was still the same.

When she wiped her tears off and walked out of the kitchen, Blake had already changed into a suit and was preparing to leave.

At the entrance, his black leather shoes were polished to a point where they shone brightly. He hesitated for a moment before a peculiar color flashed across his eyes. Actually, Avery was a very good wife, but unfortunately, he wasn't a qualified husband.

"I'll pick you up at the hospital tonight. There's a social meetup, accompany me there." He then opened the door and left.

Avery stared blankly at the door that was still tightly shut. Blake would never ask for her permission, his words were like an imperial decree that no one could refute. Every second he gave her seemed like a gift.

Avery sat alone at the dining table and ate her breakfast. When the soft bread entered her mouth, it was like chewing on wax.

After breakfast, she hurried to the hospital. Because of the injury to her hand, she had the intern cancel all operations for a week.

"Doctor Foster, why don't you go to the surgery to bandage the wound on your hand? What if it gets infected? This kind of thing can't be taken lightly." The intern was kind.

"It was just a small injury, don't make a fuss." Avery changed into a white coat and picked up the records left behind by the night doctor. While reading, she walked towards the ward.

She pushed open the door of the dry ward.

Feliz Cruz seemed to have recovered quite well. Her face was rosy, and she had regained her composure. The nurse on duty, Dina, was taking her temperature with a straight face.

"Miss Cruz, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere today?" Avery kept her head down, the pen in her hand quickly memorizing the various numbers.

…

Feliz gave a faint smile, her fingers pressing down on her chest, "You're not feeling well, are you?"

The pen in Avery’s hand suddenly stopped, it was clear that the lady knew about the relationship between her and Blake Anderson.

She looked up at the woman on the sickbed, then instructed the nurse on duty, "Contact the physician on duty to do a comprehensive heart examination for Miss Cruz."

Feliz glared at her, her beautiful face contorted in anger, but it was quickly replaced by a smile. She had been in the entertainment circle for so many years, yet she could still maintain her composure.

"Dr. Foster, no, it should be Mrs. Anderson. I heard that you were the one who operated on me, so I should be thanking you. However, there are some things that I think you should still know …"

"I'm sorry, I'm not interested in your personal matters." Avery interrupted her with a calm voice, closed the record book, and turned to walk out.

"Blake impregnated me; I love him, and he loves me; he promised me he would divorce you." Feliz’s voice sounded from behind her, sounding extremely anxious.

"Don’t you feel ashamed? Do you really need to slap those words to her face?” Without waiting for Avery to speak, Dina growled at the side.

Avery’s legs seemed to have been nailed to the ground, her entire body was ice-cold to the point of being numb. She slowly turned around and stared at Feliz with her cold, clear eyes. The corner of her mouth slowly raised into a mocking smile. "Miss Cruz, it doesn't matter who your child is because he has already disappeared. As for the divorce, it's also up to Blake to personally tell me that.”

Feliz pursed her lips, speechless.

"If there's no problem, Miss Cruz can leave the hospital today. After all, the beds in our hospital are very tight,” Avery said as she stepped on her high heels and left.

"Did you hear that? If there's nothing else, then you can leave after this. " Dina grumpily roared as she pulled Feliz’s arm and rudely stabbed the needle into her blood vessel.

“Ah! Be gentle, do you know how to use an injection?" Feliz screamed.

Dina left the ward and went straight back to her office. When she opened the door, she saw Avery sitting in front of the window in a daze. It was an exquisite view, her facial expression was indifferent without any emotion, but somehow it made people want to cry.

Her smile was extremely bitter as her gaze lightly fell on her injured hand. The snow-white bandage was stained with mottled blood.

"Avery, what are you trying to do with your half-dead look? Whether it's the divorce or the earth-shattering ruckus, we can never let the Anderson guy have a good time. "

"He's not having a good time, so how can I?" Avery brushed off the hair in front of her forehead and went to the side to pour herself a cup of warm water.

When Dina saw her calm appearance, she became angry.

Chapter 4: Ended In Bed

Without making any arrangements for the operation, Avery stayed in the office for the whole afternoon. Unknowingly, it had already started getting dark outside the window.

She suddenly remembered that Blake asked her to accompany him to the banquet. She hurriedly stood up, and her vision suddenly turned black. After staggering for a few steps, she managed to stabilize herself.

She ignored breakfast. She didn't even eat lunch. Her head felt heavy, her stomach throbbed, and so did her heart. She took out her phone and called Blake.

The phone rang many times before answering. A familiar, low, magnetic voice came from the other end. "What is it?" he asked.

"I, I might not be able to accompany you to the banquet."

There was a brief silence, then the sound of the air currents filled both ends of the microphone. “And the reason?"

"I'm not feeling well."

He was silent again. Then, he gave an emotionless "Okay" and hung up the phone.

A beeping sound came from the phone. Avery looked at it in a daze and laughed bitterly. She had long since gotten used to his indifference. Initially, she would cry in grievance, but three years later, today, she didn't even have the strength to cry. ‘If I died, he would probably react a little.’

After getting off work, she slowly took off her white coat, changed into a halter dress, and sat on a chair in a daze. Somehow, she was very much against returning to that ice-cold home. Then, Dina rushed in quickly and forcefully pulled her along to the bar.

When Avery returned home drunk, it was already midnight. She found her key and entered the room without turning on the lights. She walked along the wall towards the bedroom. For three years, a thousand and ninety-five days and nights, she had touched every corner of the house alone.

"You're back?" A gloomy male voice suddenly came from the darkness, carrying a unique coldness. Without any warning, it indeed had a horrifying effect, causing people's hair to stand on end.

Avery’s body trembled, and she subconsciously stopped moving.

Under the dim moonlight from the window, she saw a man in a dark grey suit, blending perfectly with the darkness on the linen sofa in the living room. His tall and big body was slumped on the sofa, and his movements were slow as he lit up a cigarette.

In the moment of light, Avery saw that three buttons had been torn off the shirt on his chest, and his well-built chest was faintly discernible.

She leaned her body against the ice-cold wall. She was very tired and really didn't have any spare effort to deal with him.

The atmosphere immediately fell into a deathly silence. She did not speak, and he accompanied her in silence. It was like a silent contest between them.

In the end, she was still not as calm as he was, and was the first to speak, her tone carrying a sense of ridicule, "Anderson, today is not eight."

"This is my home," he replied, implying that whenever he returned, her door must remain open to him.

The corners of her lips curled up as she sneered.

Why would he want to come and go as she pleases? This place was more like a hotel than a home to him, and there was also her, her bed maid, who was free of charge.

"Then go ahead, I'm tired." After she finished speaking, she turned around and walked towards the bedroom.

She reached out to turn the handle of the door. Just as the door was opened a crack, a force suddenly came from behind, bringing along a cold chill. She was pinned to the door by a heavyweight.

He was vaguely angry. When he received her call, he was in a meeting and she said she wasn't feeling well. He left a room full of executives behind, pushed aside a social event and two important meetings, and hurried home. He had waited for her in the empty house for hours, and she had come back drunk and confident.

"Let go, you …" Before she could finish her words, her lips were sealed in his mouth. He kissed deeply, no, not so much a kiss as a tyrannical punishment, with a surge of anger. He was a lofty existence that no one could defy.

The strong smell of alcohol on her body angered him even more. The strength of his grip on her wrist was very strong, and she wanted nothing more than to crush her slender wrist into pieces.

Avery was in so much pain that she was struggling stubbornly in his chest, but he was still the same as before, wantonly licking her lips.

She shut her eyes tightly, steeled her heart, and bit the tip of his tongue tightly. The sweet and fishy blood on his lips dispersed outwards, and she heard him groan as he forcefully pushed her away.

Avery laughed coldly, her laughter trembling in the tranquil space. She licked the blood on her lips, the stench of blood mixed with a hint of bitterness.

And he seemed to be really pissed off at her, his hand gripping her chin. He lowered his head and looked at her deeply. In the darkness of the night, his pitch-black pupils could not see the bottom as they surged with waves.

"Still into biting, huh?" His suppressed voice was filled with amusement as his cold gaze lingered on her heaving chest.

Avery started to regret wearing the dress today.

She gasped for breath in pain, her forehead was covered with beads of perspiration, as tears fell from her eyes, "Blake, you bastard …" Her voice was shaky and her fingertips dug into his shoulder.

He smiled sinisterly. "You call me a bastard, so I should be worthy of that title."

As he spoke, he became even more serious.

The wind rushed in through the wide-open window and lifted the curtains, giving off a ghostly air in the darkness. The wind was cold, yet his heavy body carried a boiling hot temperature.

Blake doesn’t mind taking Avery anywhere of their house. He wants her. He was fucking angry. She refused to accompany her but she dared to went in a bar.

His hands pulled the hem of her dressed and pushed her toward the wall. He was waiting for her to resist but she didn’t.

His hand massages her left breast as he reached for her panty and pulled it away. He turned her, facing the wall as he grasped into her waist.

“Stay still—”

“Just take me!” she cut off.

Blake cursed inside his mind when he holds his shaft. He kicked her right foot lightly and pulled her waist closer to him. After that, he delved his hardness inside her.

“Damn! You’re wet,” he said as his hands started to caress her other breast. He started to thrust inside her, making Avery groaned.

She admits, she loves what Blake was doing. If only, love is present, maybe, she will be the luckiest and happiest woman in the world.

“Ahh…” she moaned when Blake thrust even deeper.

“You dared to get drunk without waiting for my permission, huh?” he asked while he continue banging her.

She groaned when Blake grabbed her right breast.

“I’m with Dina—”

“Yeah, Dina. Great. Ugh!” He withdrew.

In this sort of situation, it was simply impossible for her to enjoy herself to the fullest.

Blake let her go angrily. He got off his bed and slammed the door.

Avery crawled up while trembling, and used a blanket to wrap her body to lean against the headboard. She closed her eyes tightly, and tears rolled down from the corner of her eyes.

In her memory, every quarrel ended in bed without exception. However, this would not solve any of the substantive problems. It would only cause the pain to repeat itself over and over again.

Chapter 5: An Awkward Atmosphere

Separated by a door, in the darkness, Blake leaned against the living room's sofa and lit up a cigarette with his fingertip. He frowned as he smoked. There was a trace of melancholy between his brows. His pair of starry eyes that were as deep as the sea hid too many worries.

The next morning, the sky was bright.

Avery crawled up from the bed, her body aching in pain. The silk covering her body slipped and revealed her naked body. A large part of the skin on her chest was covered in blue kisses.

The room was empty. The silence was suffocating. She hugged the blanket on her body tightly and revealed a mocking smile from the corner of her mouth.

He was rather carefree.

Many times, Avery felt that she was no different from a prostitute, but a prostitute had a price, she could only let him sleep for free.

Avery put on her clothes and got off the bed, then walked into the kitchen with a pair of cloth slippers. She rummaged through the medicine cabinet, poured two yellow pills into her mouth from the white bottle, and poured half a cup of warm water.

The white bottle was thrown back into the medicine box. The label said vitamin C, but only she knew that it was filled with contraceptives.

Avery leaned her back against the glass wall and powerlessly closed her eyes. The black and white images kept appearing in her mind, as though it was a movie.

Alex’s betrayal, Blake’s entrance while she was still in the air, and also … He kneeled in front of her among the flowers and bushes and said to her Avery, let's get married. Let me use my life to carry your happiness.

The happiness in his words made her yearn for it, but after walking around for three years, Avery finally understood how serendipitous happiness was.

Regarding this marriage, it wasn't that Avery didn't have any expectations, but all of these were broken by him on the night of her wedding.

He hugged her tightly and called out the name of 'Angie’ non-stop while he was still half drunk and half awake. Only then did she realize that there had always been another woman in his heart.

With tears in her eyes, she opened the curtain and blinked her eyes.

Today, without any surgery, Avery liked to do household chores during breaks.

When Blake pushed open the door and entered, the scene in front of him was extremely warm.

Avery’s house clothes were all over, and he used a silk handkerchief to tie up her long hair behind her head. She squatted down on the ground and earnestly wiped the walnut-colored floor.

Sunlight streamed in through the French windows and fell on her, warm. Her expression was very focused, and she did not even notice his existence.

Actually, at the very beginning when Avery lived here, he had invited a lot of servants to help her with her cooking, cleaning the rooms, and taking care of the garden. However, every one of those people was fired by Avery, so she took care of all the household chores by herself.

Avery was just too lonely. Only by keeping herself busy would she be able to feel that she truly existed, and was not just a puppet.

After wiping the last piece of the floor, she stood up from the ground. She was still holding onto the cloth, and the ends of her hair were a bit messy.

This girl couldn't be called beautiful, but the feeling she gave others was always warm. She had a kind of temperament that made people unable to see enough of her. Maybe that's what they call it.

Inadvertently turning her head, a tall man suddenly appeared behind her. She was startled, "Why are you here? Did you leave something? "

"Nope,” he replied plainly as he placed the warm congee in his hand on the table. "I bought crab-yellow congee from Congee Restaurant. Come and eat it."

Avery was stunned. From the villa at the peak of the mountain to Congee Restaurant, they had to go around half of the city. A three-hour drive back and forth should have been as soon as dawn arrived. He was like this.

Every time he knew she was not well; he would use his method to warm her and move her. This was the way she would always hold on to him tightly.

“I’m sorry about last night,” she said, biting her lower lip.

Blake met her eyes. He frowned, trying to keep his grip. Damn, she’s beautiful. He want’s full control but she’s a tease.

“If you’re sorry, then prove it.” Oh, fuck! What a shame! Why can’t he just say that he wants her?

Avery bit her lower lip even harder, making her taste a little bit rusty-like. “Uhm…”

Blake shook his head. “Never mind—”

“Sit,” Avery cut of the hum of his words.

“I don’t want you to force yourself—”

“Our family wants a grandchild, right? Why can’t we keep on trying?” This is not her, but damn, it, of all the doubts, the overthinking, she wants him.

She walked closer to Blake as Blake pulled the chair and sat. “Are you sure—”

“Oh, shut up.” She strode closer and kneeled in front of him, making Blake’s body tensed and his system filled with surprise.

This is not Avery. However, he started to like her new personality.

Avery pulled herself and dared to do the first move. She unbuckles his pants and seek for his shaft. She pulled it out from his Calvin Klein brief.

This huge and firm cock makes her wanting him for more.

Glued in his seat, Blake waited for Avery. He cursed out loud when she put his hardness inside her mouth. He closes his eyes when he felt her warm mouth.

Avery swirled her tongue into his cock and sipped his cockhead, making Blake hold onto the back of her head.

“Ugh!” He keeps on trying not to moan out loud.

This is not the first time that Avery gave him a blowjob, but this could be the hottest of it all.

Avery’s mouth moved up and down and it getting swiftly. She could feel the tensed body of Blake. At least, she knew that she had this effect on him.

Blake even moved his hips and slowly stood up, making Avery’s face settled straight. He couldn’t take it anymore and want to bang her mouth.

He holds onto the back of her head tighter as he started to thrust his cock inside his mouth. The glide of his cock into her teeth, makes him wanting for more. However, he’s near on his climax.

In one, two, three thrust, he exploded inside her mouth, making her gagged.

He smirked. She gagged when she tasted it but not when he was thrusting inside her mouth.

“Clean yourself.” With that, Avery rushed toward the bathroom.

Blake fixed himself as he waited for Avery to come back.

The two of them sat on opposite sides of the table. After Blake ate two bites, the phone on the table rang. He put down his bowl and chopsticks, got up, and went to the balcony to answer the call.

Avery has no idea who or what the caller had said, but Blake’s expression was somewhat unpleasant.

She put down her chopsticks and stared blankly at his back, as she started to understand more and more about him.

In the next few days, Blake did not return. If nothing went wrong, the next time he gets back would be next month's eighth. The days seemed to have returned to their original state.

Avery was long accustomed to repeating this cycle.

A patient was wheeled into the emergency room in the morning. The umbilical cord had fallen off, and it was very dangerous. Avery happened to be the doctor on duty.

The operation lasted for a full five hours. Although the woman's life was saved, it was a pity that the child was delivered too late. The child was already stillborn.

When Avery stepped out of the operating room, both of her hands were stained with blood. Then, she heard the heart-wrenching cries of the woman’s family coming from inside.

Avery was sitting alone on a bench outside the operation room. Suddenly, she felt that life was so fragile.

Dina walked over and gently patted her shoulder with her palm. They were medical personnel, so they should have become numb to this kind of thing a long time ago.

“If you like children, hurry up and have one with your husband. "

Avery shook her head and laughed bitterly, but did not say a word.

A crisp sound from high heels broke the silence of the corridor, causing Avery to look toward the source of the sound. She saw Willa, accompanied by a girl, walking in her direction.

"Sis." Avery stood up and called out indifferently.

"Yes." Willa arrogantly raised her head and did not even look at Avery. They had always had a very awkward atmosphere.

Avery didn't know why, but her mother and elder sister didn't like her and even felt unjustified disgust. She had been raised at her maternal grandmother’s house, and only her father occasionally came to visit her.
