My Scumbag Husband Got What He Deserves Free Preview

Chapter 1

I never in my darkest nightmares imagined that I would end up donating my own blood to the woman sleeping with my husband.

Just an hour ago, my life looked perfect. I was at home, carefully setting the table for a romantic candlelit dinner. It was our fifth wedding anniversary, and I wanted everything to be flawless for Robert Mars. Then, my phone buzzed with a call from an unknown number.

I hesitated at first, but something told me to answer. It was the hospital. They told me Robert had been involved in a serious car accident.

My heart shattered into a million pieces the second I heard the news. I didn't even stop to take off my cooking apron. I just bolted for the door, shoved my feet into my shoes, and ran.

The drive was a blur of complete fear and terror. I blew through several red lights, desperate to reach him. At one point, another car grazed my arm, but I didn't stop. I could hear the other driver screaming at me in a rage, but I ignored it and kept going until I reached the hospital.

I spotted Robert standing in the hospital corridor under the harsh, pale overhead lights. He looked incredibly fragile, and his face was as pale as a ghost. Seeing him like that broke me even more.

I wanted to throw myself into his arms, but I was moving so fast I nearly tripped over my own feet. As I got closer, I reached out for him, but he did something that stopped me cold: he flinched away.

That was when I noticed the bandage wrapped around his arm, stained with a small amount of blood. My heart clenched with worry. I tried to touch the bandage to see if he was okay, but he moved away before I could even get close.

I was losing my mind, and the questions started pouring out of me:

"Rob, how did you even get into a car accident?"

"How is your arm? Are you in pain?"

"Why are there no nurses attending to you? Why are you just standing here?"

"Did you break it? What did the doctor actually say to you?"

Robert didn't answer me. Instead, he lunged forward and grabbed my wrist. His fingers clamped down like iron handcuffs. His face was pale, his eyes darting around with a frantic, desperate energy I had never seen before.

“Stop asking questions!” he snapped, his voice shaking with anxiety. “You don’t need to know anything. Just go in there and donate your blood to June. Do it now! Hurry up!”

He practically screamed the last words, his breath hot against my face.

I stumbled back, my heart hammering against my ribs. "Okay, okay! Calm down, Robert. I'm going!" I reached out to touch his shoulder, trying to ground him. "I’ll head over there right now. Just breathe."

I turned toward the hospital wing, but then I saw it.

Through the glass of the emergency doors, a gurney was being pushed fast. On it lay a woman covered in blood. My heart stopped. It was June Rodney.

June—my best friend.

My brain felt like it was short-circuiting. What was she doing here? Why was she with my husband in the middle of the night? And how were they both in a car accident together?

I spun back to him, my voice trembling. “Rob... why was June in your car? What is going on?”

Robert didn’t even flinch. His face hardened into a mask of pure ice. He grabbed my arm again—harder this time—and began dragging me toward the operating room doors.

“What fucking right do you have to ask me that?” he hissed, his voice low and dangerous. “Shut up and go donate the blood. That is your only job.”

He leaned in closer, his eyes cold and full of a strange hatred. “And listen to me carefully. If anything happens to June... if she dies... I will hate you for the rest of my life.”

The pain in my wrist was sharp, but the pain in my chest was worse. Tears blurred my vision as I tried to pull away.

“Robert, let go!” I sobbed, struggling against his grip. “You’re hurting me! Let go of my hands!”

Hearing the commotion. Suddenly, the operating room doors swung open, and a nurse stepped out, her face tight with worry. "Is this the person here to donate blood for Ms. Rodney?" she asked, her voice sharp and urgent.

Before I could even catch my breath, Robert shoved me forward with a rough hand. "Yes, that's her," he snapped, his voice sounding more like a command than an introduction. "She is AB Negative. Take whatever you need, just save her!".

I stumbled forward, my heart hammering against my ribs, but I forced a shaky smile onto my face. "Yes… I’m here. I’m ready to donate," I whispered. The nurse looked at me for a long moment, her expression unreadable—almost like she was hiding a dark secret. "Come with me to the blood collection room immediately," she said, turning on her heel.

I had to jog a few steps just to keep up with her fast pace. Even after the way Robert had treated me, I couldn't help but turn back one last time to reassure him. "Rob, honey, don't worry," I called out, trying to reach him through his panic. "June Rodney will be fine. I’m going to donate my blood right now, and everything will be okay."

He didn’t even acknowledge me. His dark eyes remained fixed on the operating room door, filled with a level of devotion and fear that he had never once shown for me in a long time.

I walked into the blood collecting room and it was cold and smelled of disinfectant. After they drew my blood, the nurses had to check the results to ensure everything was perfect before the transfusion could begin. I laid there, feeling weak and hollow, when I heard a sound that chilled me to the bone.

Two nurses were huddled in the corner, whispering frantically. They were talking about June, the woman with the rare AB negative blood type. "The reason for her severe blood loss is just... bizarre," one whispered, her eyes wide.

“It’s scandalous," the other replied, leaning in closer. "The injuries didn't all come from the car. Something happened during a wild, intense car sex’ with a man right before the accident."

My entire body went stiff as the words hit me like a physical blow. I turned my head slowly, feeling like a wooden doll, as I listened to the nurse vividly describe the scene. The room began to spin, and my vision blurred. My body swayed dangerously, and I nearly fell off the hospital bed as the truth began to sink in.

Robert Mars and June Rodney…. Having sex? My heart clenched painfully, causing my entire body to ache. My breathing became rapid, and I just couldn't feel my fingernails digging into my own skin.

How could Robert be that kind of person?

He was so good to me, always home on time, and wouldn't even glance at another woman. How could Robert be having intense sex in the car with June? Despite trying to reassure myself that they might just be gossiping without knowing what exactly transpired, my heart pounded harder, almost leaping out of my throat.

Then, the nurse's last words shattered all my entire defenses.

The nurse glanced in my direction and lowered her voice even more. “I heard that the person who came to donate blood was his wife!”

Chapter 2

My mind went blank. Every memory of our five years together flashed before my eyes like a car crash. All I wanted to do was scream at Robert and demand why—why would he throw "us" away like this?

I rushed toward him, my chest heaving, trying to keep my voice from breaking.

“Robert,” I choked out, “who the hell is that woman in there?

Robert didn't even flinch. He just frowned, looking at me as if I were a buzzing fly he wanted to swat.

“Have you always been this dumb, or are you just playing a part?” he asked, his voice dripping with boredom. “It’s June Rodney. Your best friend. What did you think our relationship was?”

The air left my lungs. “You had sex with my best friend... in your car?” My heart didn't just break; it felt like it was being twisted by rusted pliers.

“Robert, I’ve been your wife for years!” I yelled, the tears finally spilling over. “You cheated on me with my best friend, and now that she’s hurt, you have the nerve to ask for my blood to save her? What am I to you?”

Robert’s expression shifted. His eyes turned into icy daggers, cold enough to freeze the blood in my veins. He stared at me for a long, deafening minute.

Robert’s expression shifted. His eyes turned into icy daggers. “Have you given June the blood yet?” he asked, as if he were asking about the weather.

I backed away, trembling. “She destroyed my life! Why would I be stupid enough to give my blood to your lover? What kind of person do you think I am?”.

Robert stepped closer, his shadow looming over me. Those lips that used to kiss me every morning—the same lips I once craved during our nights together of hot sex—curled into a sneer.

“You are worthless,” he spat. “You’re nothing but a tool who should know their place. Now, get back in there and give that blood. Do not make me ask again”.

“I hope she dies!” I hissed, biting my lip desperately.

HE SLAPPED ME.

The force was so great that I fell to the ground. My head snapped to the side, and the metallic taste of blood spread in my mouth.

“Katie Mason, how could you be so ungrateful?” Robert looked down at me with pure disgust. “I have supported you for five goddamn years. Think of your mother, Rita. She’s barely hanging on, isn't she?”.

My heart stopped. “Robert, don’t...”

“If you don’t give that blood, say goodbye to her medication,” he threatened. “She won't last long without it, will she?”

He didn't wait for an answer. Robert grabbed a fistful of my hair and dragged me toward the collection room. “If anything happens to June, you’ll pay with your worthless life!”.

As I lay on the bed, the needle pierced my skin. I watched my life force flow through the clear tube—carrying away five years of a lie-filled marriage.

I glanced at the bag. 600cc.. A normal donation is 400cc. They were draining me dry for her.

Suddenly, the door burst open. A middle-aged man rushed in looking desperate. “We need that rare blood type urgently for a critical patient!”.

The nurse hesitated, but I saw my chance for revenge

“The blood is mine,” I whispered, my body weak and limp. “I decide who gets it. Give it to him. Give it to someone who actually deserves to live”.

As long as my blood didn't go to save June Rodney, I didn't care. I would rather throw it in the trash than give it to that heartless man, Robert Mars.

The director thanked me and hurried away with the bag. I struggled to sit up, but the world turned black. The excessive blood loss was taking its toll.

I stumbled out of the room, clutching the wall. I couldn't take the elevator—I was terrified Robert would find me and drag me back for more blood. I took the stairs instead.

I only made it to two flights. My legs gave out, and I tumbled down the concrete steps. Pain exploded through my body, but I didn't even have the strength to scream for help

Everything went black.

Chapter 3

The minute my eyes fluttered open, I noticed that I was in a hospital room. There was a hint of dawn from outside the window, my body was stiff, numb and aching with a dull pain that radiated from my lower abdomen, spreading throughout my entire body. Even a slight movement caused me to groan in pain.

“You're finally awake!”

A strange voice came from the doorway, forcing me to turn my head. I saw a man standing there and he was very attractive.

He slowly walked toward me, stopping close to my bed and leaning down until his warm breath brushed against my face. I couldn't help but turn my head away. “Katie Mason,” he said.

There was a husky quality to his voice that made me slightly dazed. Who was this man and how did he even know my name? He called my name twice before I nodded slightly.

“I want to thank you for your blood. This is my little way of compensating you.” He slowly took out a check from his pocket and handed it to me.

I blinked at him, remembering what had transpired last night, “were you the one who needed blood transfusion last night?”

He didn't answer, but I could tell from his pale face. I returned the check to him before speaking. “I can't accept this,”

His expression changed slightly, and there was obvious disgust in his dark eyes. “You should know when to accept help or reject them. I want you to know that I'm very grateful to you for giving me your blood, even if it meant losing your child. This check is more than enough compensation.”

Child?

I instinctively touched my lower abdomen, looking at the man standing before me, and my limbs began to feel cold. “Are you saying I was pregnant and I… I lost the baby?”

A flash of confusion crossed his face. Then, he leaned closer, his warm breath evenly brushing against my cheek, making my skin flush. He spoke with a playful tone. “Are you really that clueless or are you just trying to pretend?”

I quickly reached out and grabbed his sleeve, my voice trembling. “How could my blood be given to you? What happened to my baby? June Rodney and Robert, they…”

Before I could even get to finish my words, the man interrupted me coldly. “Are you done acting?” He took out another check and threw it at me.

I didn't catch it, it just laid there, shocked by the news of the baby.

His eyebrows furrowed even more, and he grabbed my chin, looking down at me. “If you don't want the money, what do you want?”

I still didn't answer him, my eyes just kept wandering over him, my expression becoming dazed. Robert Mars and I had been married for five good years and had always wanted a child. I had taken so much medicine that it could fill a room. But for some reason, I couldn't get pregnant. Now that I was pregnant, I had lost the baby.

I didn't know why my blood had been given to this man, and I didn't want to know. I just wanted a baby… I want my baby.

“You better think carefully.” He released my chin and slowly walked to the window, looking out with a serious expression.

I was about to speak when I heard a loud crash. Someone had kicked the door open from the outside. The figure was very familiar. Robert Mars stood in the doorway, his eyes looking like they were about to devour me. His once gentle face was now twisted with angry rage. “You should have just died, Katie Mason. In a critical moment, you decided to give your blood to someone else. June almost…” I interrupted him, my eyes welling up with tears, blurring my vision.

“Do you even know that I'm pregnant?”

Robert froze, giving me an extremely complicated look that I couldn't read at first, but then, his tightly clenched fist gradually loosened. A slight glimmer of hope flickered in my heart.

I knew that he still loved me, didn't he? This was our child, the fruit of our love. But then, in the next second.

Robert's words were like a thousand icy arrows, piercing me into a point of no return. “Who cares if you are pregnant, I'm very sure that the kid isn't mine… he is nothing but a bastard.”

Chapter 4

Robert's words stunned me in the worst way, followed by his bitter laughter. My husband of five years was cheating on me and had the nerve to doubt that the child that I had carried wasn't his. What kind of logic was that? I tilted my head back, unable to stop my body from trembling.”How dare you say such a thing from your mouth, Robert?”

Whose child did he think I would have carried if not his?

Robert simply scoffed. “You couldn't even produce an egg in five years. Now, all of a sudden, you're pregnant? It's nothing but a bastard. You should have gotten rid of it!”

My lower abdomen started to ache again. I reached down to touch it, stubbornly raising my chin as I replied, “it's already dead from the fall last night. Are you satisfied now, Robert Mars?”

His cold eyes stared at me. “You should also die with the baby!”

“How can you be so heartless, Robert? I have been married to you for five years. You cheated on me with my best friend. Doesn't your conscience hurt?” I gripped the bedsheets tightly, trying to calm myself.

“Why on earth should I feel any pain? Your family has done nothing but treat me like a bank. I have been paying for your mom's medical expenses every month for five years, and your brother comes to me for his piled up gambling debts. What right do you have to even question me? Only June Rodney helps and encourages me, instead of constantly demanding things from me!”

“I want you to listen once and listen well. June Rodney isn't just someone I have good sex with, she is the woman I love the most!” Robert Mars pierced my heart. “You are a cruel sick bitch for refusing to donate blood to save June. Shouldn't you be the one whose conscience should be hurting?”

“Rob…” June appeared perfectly at the doorway, clutching the doorframe, her practiced expression feigned grievance a sight to behold. “Rob, I believe that Katie here didn't refuse on purpose. After all, she is my best friend and would do anything for me.”

“Cut the crap,” I scoffed. “Did you just call yourself my best friend, would a best friend ever have sex with my husband?” I asked coldly.

June immediately looked aggrieved, tears seemingly about to fall from her eyes but I knew that they were all just an act. “Katie, it's not what you think..” She quickly walked towards my bedside, but after a couple of steps her body went limp, and she fell to the ground.

Robert immediately caught her in his arms, his tone filled with disdain. “We are in love with each other, so what?”

In love? I didn't even have the strength to smile bitterly. “Rob, I’m still a bit dizzy. Do I need more blood transfusion?” June nestled into his arms, looking utterly weak

“You would be fine. If you really need a blood transfusion, I would drain Katie Mason if it means saving your life!”

I laughed, a self deprecating smile tugging at my lips. The pain in my heart made me almost faint

My dear husband wants to drain my blood to save my best friend he was cheating on me with, his woman, the other man in my marriage.

My body swayed, and I was about to fall off the bed when someone beside me steadied me.

Then, a deep magnetic voice echoed in my ear. “Taking her blood? Did you get my permission?”

I turned my head and saw the indifferent face of the man beside me. His dark eyes held an unreadable expression, like. Swirling vortex.

Was he helping me? I titled my head back, looking at the unfamiliar man before me, utterly puzzled.

Why would he help me?

“You..” I started to speak but he tightened his grip slightly and lowered his lean chin, signalling me to be quiet.

Robert couldn't hold back and questioned me with hostility in his voice. “Who are you? What does my family matter have to do with you?”

After speaking, without waiting for the man to respond, he turned his gaze to me and sneered. “You are really good at what you do. I didn't even notice another man in the room earlier, but now it seems I have nothing to feel guilty about. Your bastard is gone, so your lover has come to comfort you!”

I was so angry at every word coming out of Robert's mouth that I felt the surge of blood rushing to my chest. “Robert, you are so full of it!”

I could notice June smiling triumphantly, she grabbed the hem of Robert’s shirt. “Rob, don't be angry. Katie here must have a good reason. You have to forgive her!”

The man nodded, his thin lips parting slightly. “Nathaniel Graham.”

Hearing this, Robert's smile seemed to have frozen, and he shuddered as if he had been electrocuted. “Which Nathaniel Graham?”

“Is there another Nathaniel Graham in this city?”

I didn't know why Nathaniel Graham's name made Robert’s expression change drastically but it did. He became incredibly servile, saying. “Mr Graham, this is all a misunderstanding. I was just…”

He stammered, unable to explain himself, sweat beading on his forehead. He glanced at me, hoping I would help him explain.

“I heard everything. I can't interfere in family matters,” Nathaniel Graham said as he walked over to the small sofa and sat down, elegantly crossing his legs. His tone was casual, “but if you drain her blood, I promise you that I won't stand for it.”

“Mr Graham, you clearly misunderstood everything. I was clearly joking. She's my wife. How could I bear to do something like that to her?”

“The hospital is full of surveillance cameras, not to mention the photos taken from the accident scene. I don't think you want to get into any more trouble. It wouldn't benefit you at all, would it?”

Robert glared at me before finally uttering. “Mr Graham is right.”

Nathaniel nodded and smiled slightly, a complex expression flickering in his eyes, making it hard for me to even guess his thought.

But I wasn't stupid. I understood that Nathaniel Graham was using last night's event as leverage. If they caused me any more trouble, he would expose everything, making things difficult for them as well.

Emboldened by Nathaniel Graham's presence, I felt a surge of confidence. I looked at Robert and said through gritted teeth. “Robert Mars, since you no longer have feelings for me, let's give each other a way out. Let's get a divorce.”

The moment I said these words, Robert and June’s eyes flashed with a glint that was so sharp that it hurt my own eyes. “Alright, let's part ways amicably. I will send the divorce agreement to your parents house,”

I didn't respond to him. Instead, I turned back to Nathaniel Graham and asked. “Mr Graham, as compensation, can I make my request?”

Nathaniel Graham nodded, a smile spreading from the corner of his eyes, which reassured me a lot.

I bit my bottom lips then looked at him and said. “Marry me!”

Chapter 5

Word by word, clear as day. The surroundings fell silent instantly. The expression on Nathaniel Graham's face was hidden in the shadows, making it hard for me to see clearly. Involuntarily, my palms began to sweat, and I gripped the bedsheets tightly

I mentally berated myself. I wasn't a promiscuous woman, so why would I make such a request to a stranger? What would Nathaniel think of me? What if he rejected me? But I couldn't swallow this anger. I had loved my husband for so many years, only to recieve such a painful result.

I wasn't willing to accept it. I didn't want to be a laughing sacrificial lamb in this failed marriage! With expectations and pleading, I turned my gaze to Nathaniel, hoping he would agree to my request, atleast to let Robert know that after leaving his crooked tree, I could still find a whole forest of quality.

It felt like an eternity before Nathaniel finally spoke, a smile playing on his lips. “Alright.” I breathed a huge sigh of relief, only then realizing that the bedsheets was crumpled in my hands. Robert’s face was dark and stormy as he roared at me.

“Katie Mason, do you know exactly what you're doing?”

I turned my head away, not wanting to look at Robert's face. Taking a deep breath, I lifted my head and said with a smile. “Send me the divorce agreement as soon as possible, don't delay my second marriage. I can't wait.” My hands trembled as I took Nathaniel’s arm, and even though my heart was a stormy sea, I kept my face calm.

Using Nathaniel's support, I got out of bed, not even bothering to put on my shoes, and stepped barefoot onto the cold floor. I forced a smile, “Don't let us interrupt your recovery. We will take our leave!” Behind me, Robert was definitely furious, and I couldn't have felt alot better.

But even so, it couldn't stop the sorrow that gnawed at my heart. All these years, I had been blindre by foolishness, not for once realizing that Robert was such a heartless person. I had been so considerate, only to be repair with this, and he wanted to drag me down to be buried with his mistress! How fucking cruel.

My heart was as cold as ash. I didn't even know how I walked out of the hospital room. It wasn't until I reached the entrance of the hospital that the blinding light forced me back to my senses. I suddenly pulled my hands away, took a step back, and said with my head lowered. “Mr. Graham, thank you!”

“We both got what we wanted, no need to be so polite.” As Nathaniel spoke, he reached out towards my face. Startled, I took another step back, looking at him in a panic. Nathaniel chuckled softly, a hint of disdain in his eyes. “You acted so tough just now, and now you are crying?”

Only then did I even realize that my face was already wet with tears. I wiped them away and looked up at Nathaniel. “I just got something in my eye. Mr. Graham, thank you so much for your help. I appreciate it,” after thinking for a moment, I added, “ Mr. Graham, I will pay you back as soon as possible.”

“Mr Graham, thank you for helping me act earlier. I promise you that I won't cling to you, please be rest assured.” With that, I turned to leave.

Nathaniel Graham stopped me before I could leave, he was offering to drive me but I declined. Ultimately, no matter how capable Nathaniel was, he was still a stranger to me. No matter how bad my relationship with Robert was, I just suddenly couldn't marry anyone. I hated Robert Mars with so much passion, but could I really let go of this relationship so easily? After saying goodbye to Nathaniel, I took a cab back to Robert house to pack my things, enduring the abdominal pain as I dragged my suitcase out.

Robert kept to his word and sent me the divorce agreement the next day. But to my suprise, he actually wrote in the divorce agreement that he wanted a divorce because I was unfaithful and cheated on him. He even demanded that I leave with nothing and even asked me to repay every penny he had spent on me over the past Five years of our marriage.

During these Five years, my brother's gambling debt and my mother's medical expenses were one thing, but what chilled me to the bone was that he included all the utilities and living expenses I had used at his residence over the years. He even itemized the condoms and even the gift he had given me. All in all, it all amountre to a full $705,000.

What a complete jerk! My hands trembled uncontrollably. I barely managed to resist the urge to tear the divorce agreement to shreds and grabbed the phone to call Robert. He took a while to answer, he was breathing heavily and impatiently asking me what I wanted.

Not noticing anything amiss, I was consumed by anger and questioned him about the compensation. Hearing my question, Robert chuckled, “What the hell do you think bitch? You took my money to go mess around with Nathaniel Graham, and now that we are getting a divorce, ofcourse, it's only right that I want my money back. I can't waste money like that!”

“Don't you know whether I have been messing around these past Five years? I have been working like a dog at him every day, and you are turning things around and accusing me? Don't you even feel a little ashamed?” I was so angry that my shoulders were practically shaking.

“Working like a dog! Marrying into the Mars family was a blessing for you. What's wrong with doing some housework? Isn't that what you get a wife for? Besides, I slept with you at night and gave you great sex with a huge cock, didn't I? I haven't even asked for compensation for that! No wonder you felt so loose, you have been with other men. Just sign the goddamn papers, talking to you makes me sick.”

Before I could get to say anything, a delicate moan came from the other end of the phone. “What? If you marry me, will you make me work too?”

“Baby, I wouldn't dream of making you work. At most, I will work you.” Another soft moan followed, and I finally realized that Robert was actually having sex.

“Robert, you’re so shameless. How can you be so cruel!” In those five years. It was like I was seeing a different Robert Mars for the first time, and I was on the Verge of breakdown.

“I’m not the desperate one here. You put on this act of being a virtuous housewife, but behind my back, you were hooking up with Nathaniel Graham and having his baby. I never saw you act this wild when you were in my bed!” The filthy word came from the same mouth that had once whispered sweet things to my ear while he pound into my pussy.

Each words he said right now was like a sharp thorn, leaving me bleeding and in unbearable pain. He was also loosing patience. “Anyway, you have to pay back the money. I have important things to do. Call me when you have made up your mind.”

“You are dreaming if you think I would sign this divorce agreement. June Rodney is nothing but a fucking homewrecker, and that's all she would ever be!” I hung up the phone fiercely and collapsed onto the sofa, like a puppet with its string cut, utterly drained.

This was my marriage, this was my husband having an open affair with my best friend, wonderful, fucking wonderful.

I laughed silently, tears welling up in my eyes. I stared at the divorce agreement for a long time before finally picking it up, tearing it into pieces, and scattering then in the air like a blizzard, freezing my heart numb.

As dusk approached, my phone rang again. The caller ID showed my mom's name.

I thought she had found out about the divorce between I and Robert and was calling to ask what had happened. I quickly wiped away the tears and suppressed all the sadness, pretending to be nonchalant as I answered. “Hi, mom, what's up?”

“Are you a relative of the phones owner?” my legs went weak, and I knew something terrible had happened.
