Chapter 1: Your Sister Deserves Better

Sitting in front of the vanity mirror, Alyssa was silent as she waited for the makeup artist to apply her makeup.

Her eyes were lifeless and mink was blank. Everything felt purposeless and barren.

Suddenly, the door opened, and her mother, Aurora, hurried in. When she saw Alyssa’s messy hair and her long gray jacket that went with the gray look on her face, she instantly got furious.

“The Lawrences are here. Why have you not changed your clothes?”

Alyssa pushed the black-rimmed glasses on the bridge of her nose and turned to her mother. She looked dejected. “Mom, do you really want to do this? Do you really want me to marry my sister’s fiancée?”

That’s right. Today was her wedding.

And the man she was marrying to was her elder sister’s fiancée.

Aurora felt that she was making a big mistake by doing this and her face turned white with anxiety.

The Lawrences were waiting outside. If they heard that the brides were changed at the last moment, it would cause a huge trouble. A simple mistake could destroy their whole family!

Aurora looked towards the door in fear. She then came in front of Alyssa and knelt down on the ground. Tears filled her eyes. “Alyssa, I know you don’t want this arrangement. But I beg you. Your sister deserves better. We can’t let her marry that man and ruin her life. You are her sister. Why don’t you just help her!”

Alyssa’s hopeless eyes gradually became cold. They couldn’t let her sister marry that man and ruin her life, so they were sending her to marry in her sister’s place.

Weren’t they afraid that her life would be ruined too?

Alyssa looked at the woman who was kneeling in front of her. Would anyone believe that this woman was her own biological mother?

Although Aurora was her biological mother, she had favored the children of her father’s deceased ex-wife, to the point that, she could gamble with her own daughter’s life.

Aurora knew very well that Alyssa’s sister’s fiancée was ugly and impotent, but she wanted Alyssa to marry him anyway.

The servant’s pleadings could be heard outside the door. “Madam, the Lawrences are upstairs.”

Aurora got even more anxious. “Alyssa, please. . .”

“Okay. Stop.” Alyssa didn’t reach out to help Aurora from the ground. She indifferently said, “Get up. I’ll go.”

This time, she really had lost her all hopes to this family.

When her own biological mother did not care about her, why would she blame other people?

Opening the door, she saw a group of strange bodyguards standing outside the door. They were cold and solemn, looking at her indifferently.

So, these were the people the Lawrences sent to pick her up.

She was going to marry someone today without a wedding or a groom.

“Let’s go.” She said and walked straight downstairs first. She did not care if anyone came to see her off.

She went outside and directly sat in the Marcedes Benz that came to pick her up.

The Lawrence family was the richest and most influential family in the Holston City. Their only heir, Emmett Lawrence, was disfigured and was impotent after he was kidnapped more than ten years ago.

Since then, he had not appeared in public. No one knew how he looked, but he was rumored to be brutal and ugly. And it was said that no woman sent into his house came out alive.

He was her sister’s fiancée and now her husband.

Alyssa leaned on the window and looked outside blankly, while her heart shattered into millions of pieces.

There was no greater sorrow than heartbreak caused by the betrayal of your family.

Even if he was a devil, it did not matter. She just needed to satisfy her family’s needs, fulfil their wishes.

Her own mother had abandoned her to a monster, without any care or sorrow.

She was completely alone in this world.

…

Arriving at Emmett’s villa, the bodyguards took her into a room, and then they all left.

Alyssa looked around the room but did not see anyone. He was not here.

She sat on the bed and sighed. She did not know what would happen to her life.

It wasn’t until the sky outside the window turned completely dark that the door was opened again.

Alyssa turned her head and vaguely saw a tall and strong man walk in from the door.

He closed the door and turned on the lights.

Alyssa outstretched her hand to block the blinding light. Then she raised her head to see the man in front of her.

At a glance, she froze.

It wasn’t because the man was terrifyingly ugly, but because he was incredibly handsome!

He was so handsome that it almost blinded her eyes!

A dark suit wrapped around his tall, muscular body. His pair of long legs strode towards her confidently.

His facial contour was deep and perfect, like an exquisite work of art.

Emmett looked at Alyssa for a few seconds, his eyebrows twisted slightly. “Very ugly.”

He said this with a calm tone, no extra emotions could be discerned from his voice.

Alyssa looked back in shock. She didn’t care much about him saying she was ugly. She only looked at him with a look of defense and said, “Who are you?”

Who was this man? And why did he come in her room on the first night of her marriage?

His ink-colored pupils radiated a harsh light, and his voice was deep. “You don’t know who you married to?”

As he got close, his brisk breath sent a shiver down Alyssa’s spine.

His powerful aura stifled her slightly and she felt the pressure in her heart. But she still straightened her back and said, “Of course, I know. The person I’ll marry is named Emmett Lawrence!”

Emmett heard the words and the sharpness in his eyes gradually converged, replaced with a trace of clarity. Another woman who believed the rumors, destined to marry an ‘ugly and impotent’ man.

But compared to other woman, her expression seemed to be too calm. This made Emmett interested in her.

He smiled, acting calm and collected. “So, you are my sister-in-law? I am Justin, Emmett’s cousin. I guess on the wedding night, nobody wants to be with such a waste of a man, not even you!”

Chapter 2: I Might Treat You Better

He deliberately accentuated the word ‘waste of a man’ deeply, with a hint of provocation. As he spoke, the man approached her intentionally. The piercingly cold aura of him got even thicker and stronger around her.

Alyssa moved back uncomfortably, and after a moment of disbelief, she believed his words. After all, Emmett was said to be too ugly and brutal, but this man was not ugly at all. Furthermore, Emmett’s villa was not accessible to people outside his family or special guests like her.

So, he might really be Emmett’s cousin.

“He is your cousin. Please don’t talk about him like this.”

Presumably, Emmett had also had difficulties in his family. Alyssa could not help but feel sympathy. Even if the Lawrence family was top-tier socially, she sympathized with Emmett’s situation. He must have had hard times in recent years.

Emmett’s brown eyes quickly flashed in surprise. He didn’t expect this ugly woman to say such words.

He couldn’t help looking at her again. The messy hair, the black-framed glasses, soiled, long cotton clothes, and the bangs on her forehead almost thick enough to cover her eyes. There were even a few small spots on her haggard face. It was disgusting to even look at.

He had heard how his fiancée was as beautiful as a blooming rose. But this woman was something else.

There was no way that this ugly woman was his rumored fiancée.

But the Lawrence family did not care whether the woman who married him was ugly or beautiful, as long as it was woman who could produce an heir. They would not care even if they had to select another one.

Besides, it wasn’t as if Emmett had any plans of treating her as his wife. All he needed was a simple and quick transection.

With a dark glint flashing in his eyes, Emmett stretched out his hand and pushed Alyssa on the bed. There was undisguised contempt and malice in his tone. “There is no one else. You don’t need to pretend. With your looks, you are probably still a virgin. Why don’t you give it a try? I might treat you far better than that cripple!”

After he finished speaking, he reached for her directly. He was about to touch her waist.

Almost.

Slap!

“Get off!” Alyssa used all her strength to slap him on the face. “Don’t assume everyone is as dirty as you. You’re lucky that your cousin hasn’t arrived yet. Leave immediately, and I will pretend nothing happened here. Or would you prefer to be slapped again?”

Although she tried her best to stay calm, her trembling hands betrayed her. She clutched the sheets beneath her, and let out a ragged breath.

What the hell did she just witness?

She had imagined how ugly Emmett would be on the way over, how scarred and disabled he truly was. But she had never expected to encounter such a thing as this.

On her wedding night, an unknown man came to her room and said these things to her. And that man was even her husband’s cousin!

Her jaw clenched, and she forced herself to look up at him. ‘You can do this, Alyssa.’ She encouraged herself. ‘You got this.’

Emmett was momentarily stunned as he hadn’t expected this ugly woman to make a move on him.

He had a sullen look on his face. His body exuded a bitter chill. “No woman has ever dared to slap me.”

“Consider this your first!” Alyssa shuttered.

Because of the struggle, her glasses had fallen off, revealing a pair of unexpectedly clear and precise eyes. Her trembling eyelashes showed their owner’s tension and fear. “D-don’t come any closer!”

Emmett suddenly paused, and for a moment he began to feel a bit soft-hearted.

He straightened his coat and glanced coldly at her. “You can continue to wait for that ‘waste of a man’ here.”

Bang!

It wasn’t until the door was closed that Alyssa’s tense nerves relaxed slightly.

Outside the door.

When the bodyguard was about to reach the Master bedroom, he saw the red mark on Emmett’s face. With his pale complexion, the mark was incredibly visible. Even a partially blind person would be able to spot it a mile away.

The bodyguard froze for a moment before saying, “Young Master… Your face…”

Emmett touched his face and said bluntly, “Ran into the door.”

Since when the doors had five fingers on them?

Even though his reason seemed doubtful, the bodyguard did not dare to ask any further.

Instead, he respectfully handed a folder, “This is Young Madam’s personal information.”

Emmett opened the folder and saw the name on it, Alyssa Moore.

Interesting. That ugly woman’s name was Alyssa meaning noble. But she was as rude as hell. How ironic!

Her birth mother was even more interesting. Treating her stepson and stepdaughter like precious gems while being cruel to her biological daughter. Despicable!

Moving on the document, he frowned and asked the bodyguard, “Is she really this much of an idiot?”

The bodyguard nodded.

“Check again.”

When she spoke, she was clear and organized. Besides, Emmett had never seen an idiot who could rise up so fiercely and fight back against a man in that type of situation.

Thinking of this, he lost his countenance and thrust the file he was holding into the bodyguard’s hands. “If you can’t give me accurate information then don’t bother coming back to me!”

Chapter 3: Let The Game Begin

Sunlight crept from the balcony at the other side of the room, shining over the blanket wrapped around the woman’s thin frame.

Somehow, everything happened last night felt like a dream or perhaps a nightmare, at least, until her hands slide across the silky sheets around her.

It wasn’t a dream, rather her own cruel reality.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she turned to the bedside only to see it was empty.

Emmett didn’t return last night.

Although her heart was slightly relieved, she could not help but felt a little uneasy by his absence. It felt like a knife was hanging over her head and wouldn’t go away.

A part of her wanted to sort these things out, but another part of her wanted to leave things as it was. Besides, she might feel pity for the scarred man, but she wasn’t ready for a relationship.

Furthermore, that man was originally her sister’s fiancée. She did not know if he was going to find trouble with her for this.

…

Down the stairs, a bodyguard came over and led her to the dining hall.

It was no secret that the Lawrence family was rich. With glistening chandeliers hanging from every corner and antique vases gleaming along the corridor, they could render anyone speechless. She wasn’t the type who easily amazed by the material possession, but it was too much.

The dining room was near the kitchen. As soon as she entered, she saw a tall and straight figure coming out of the kitchen with breakfast.

When he came out, she noticed that the man was none other than that Justin, who tried to kiss her last night!

Immediately she turned around, wanting to leave. She did not want to interact with this man at all. However, the man did not let her fulfil her wishes as he called out aloud, “Sister-in-law, good morning.”

His voice was magnetic and pleasant, but a little light, enough to make her uncomfortable. She took a step a step back, looking at his warm figure. She didn’t know if the daylight that made him look even brighter.

What the hell was going on? Why the heck he was here?

The bodyguard on the side shook his head. Why the Young Master was acting this way? Was he role-playing with the Young Madame?

Not wanting to ask, he simply continued his works.

Alyssa was very disgusted to see him. Didn’t he have his own home? She really didn’t know what he was doing by staying at his cousin’s house every day.

“Morning.” She adjusted her glasses, and turned to look at the bodyguard behind her. “Is Your Young Master not here?”

The bodyguard carefully glanced at Emmett, who had no expression on his face.

He had no choice but to carry on with this farce, “The Young Master has been sick recently and is still in the hospital.”

Alyssa looked like a silly girl but it was almost impossible to lie her.

Ever since she was young, she had been suppressed by Aurora who always insisted on pushing her into shadows, making sure that she’d never grab the limelight of her siblings. That’s why she acted the way she did. She had to conceal her real strength out of sense of self-preservation.

However, that did not mean that she did not know anything.

The bumbling lies of the bodyguard could not fool her.

But Alyssa didn’t question him any further. Instead, she nodded her head, “Oh, can I go to see him there?”

“Now is not a good time.” The bodyguard said through his teeth, clearly not telling the truth.

Mm, it seemed that Emmett didn’t like her very much, and didn’t even want to see her.

Fine. Saved her some trouble.

Emmett put the breakfast on the dining table and asked lightly, “Let’s eat breakfast.”

When Alyssa came here yesterday, she found no chef in the villa. She blinked and glanced at the plate of food in front of her. Did he make breakfast himself?

Although it looked delicious, she could not help but being a little cautious. After all she did not know this man at all.

“Why? Afraid of me poisoning you?” Emmett leaned closer to her, his eyes filled with endless gloom, making her feel cold to even look at.

Alyssa stepped back involuntarily, “Thank you for your breakfast, but I am not hungry.”

Not wanting to say anymore, she turned around and left. The last thing she needed to do was to interact with that psycho again!

Outside the room, she met the bodyguard, who had picked her up yesterday from the Moore Family Villa, in the lobby.

“Hey, do you mind to do me a favor?” She smiled hesitantly, “I’m going back to the Moore’s house to get something. Can you please send me back?”

Yesterday when she came over, she did not bring anything. First, everything was too sudden was it caught her off-guard. Second, she was too angry to even think about anything at that moment.

Therefore, she had to go back and get clothes and some other belongings.

On her way here, she noticed that the villa was built on a mountainside. She was willing to walk, but that would take too long.

The bodyguard was about to answer when he saw a shadowy figure behind her. He immediately shut his mouth.

When she turned around, she saw that ‘Justin’ had come out of the room too.

He put his hands in the pockets of his suit trousers and walked forward without any hassle. “So, my cousin’s wife wants to go home to get something? It wouldn’t make sense to order anyone else when I’m around to help you, you know.”

The words fell and his arm wrapped around her shoulder.

Alyssa waved away his hand in disgust. “No, thank you.”

She didn’t understand. Yesterday he said she was very ugly, then why was he bothering her all over today?

Did he have some brain problems?

“Young Madam, why don’t you allow our Young Master to take you home?” The bodyguard on the side said promptly. “I have other works to do, so I might not be able to drop you off.”

Finished speaking, the bodyguard ran away from the place.

“Fine.” Alyssa sighed. It seemed she had no other choice.

“See? Was it too hard?” Satisfied by the outcome, Emmett leaned towards her and said with a smile.

She looked coldly at him and stomped towards the parking lot without turning back.

During the drive, the man suddenly leaned over and whispered in her ear. “Your body feels so good when I touch it.”

His voice was low and magnetic, quite seductive for the female community. However, for Alyssa, it was a sign of danger.

She was afraid that he would do something even creepier, therefore, she had no choice but to stay in the car without doing anything.

In the silent car, Alyssa pulled the seat belt tightly, looking forward without blinking. She didn’t even take a glance at ‘Justin’, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing her irritated.

After all, wasn’t she married to his cousin? Wasn’t it improper?

Did he not know the basic civility?

When Emmett saw her like this, he suddenly became even more interested in this woman.

Even though his new wife was ugly, she must at least be a relatively decent person.

Initially, he just wanted to tease her with this joke. However, her reaction was revealing a lot about her, so he decided to maintain the ruse so that he could learn as much as possible.

‘Let the game begin.’ He thought with a smirk.

Chapter 4: Kiss You Every Time

The black car stopped in front of the Moore family Villa.

Alyssa was about to unfasten the seat belt when the man suddenly leaned over. Before she could even react, his slender and beautiful fingers pressed lightly on the dark buckle of the seat belt. The seat belt was immediately released with a slight snap.

His face, that was handsome and compelling, was getting closer to her. As they faced each other, Alyssa’s mind, that was usually settled and was as still as water, couldn’t help sway.

Her cheeks turned red as she looked at his face and there was a trace of confusion in her glassy eyes.

This man’s face was pretty enough to attract any woman he wanted. Whether old or young, she was hundred percent sure that they’d all fall victim to this man’s charm.

However, as soon as Alyssa remembered what he had done yesterday, her look returned to normal.

He was nothing but a rich and nasty young kid who coveted his sister-in-law, like a spoiled child who wanted what he couldn’t get.

She lifted her head and adjusted her glasses. Her face showed no emotion as she said, “I’m getting off.”

Interesting.

Emmett narrowed his eyes and there was a look of anger in his deep black eyes.

Alyssa was keenly aware of this change and tried to get out of the car as soon as possible. She was about to open the car door and jump off, when a hand caught her arm and grabbed her.

The man was strong, with his long arms across her. From an outsider’s perspective, it almost seemed like he was holding her in his embrace.

Through her glasses, he looked straight at her eyes which were as clear as water and said deliberately, “I took you home. Don’t I deserve a ‘thank you’?”

Alyssa lowered her head. Flinching a little, she whispered, “Thank you.”

If the people of the Moore family see her like this, they would usually leave her alone. She hoped ‘Justin’ would feel the same and just back off.

After all, she was supposed to engaged with Emmett, not his cousin. She still needed to give her husband some face, willing or not!

Justin could just go and screw himself! But he couldn’t drag herself with him!

Didn’t he know normal etiquette?

Emmett looked at her tightly pursed pink lips and his eyes got darker. He said softly, “It seems your appreciation is insincere. I guess I have to take that ‘thanks’ myself.”

Although her face was uneven and spotty, there was something about her lips that pulled him in.

With the thought, he leaned over and kissed her lips.

As he was kissing her, he thought: She’s my legitimate wife. Why should I hide my desire to kiss her?

Alyssa could not even comprehend what was happening. One minute ago, she was close to bite his head off, and now she could feel an icy surface slamming against her lips.

She stared at the enlarged face in front of her and her eyes widened. With a violent shudder, she reached out to push him away, only to find that her hands had been clasped tightly.

Emmett was very satisfied with her reaction. He reached out a hand and took off her glasses to reveal her clear and bright eyes.

Her having no glasses was far more pleasing to the eyes.

Alyssa’s face turned red from anger, and she could feel her hands clenching to her sides. She still hadn’t given up in struggling against him.

This man was too presumptuous to dare treat her this way at the door of her family’s house!

Didn’t he have any shame? She was his sister-in-law!

Didn’t he feel sorry for his cousin at least?

When the kiss ended, he left her lips reluctantly. He still wanted more.

‘That was great, I should try that again once there’s a chance.’ He thought.

After coming back to his sense, he said in a commanding voice, “Don’t wear glasses anymore. Otherwise, I will kiss you every time I see you.”

He deliberately lowered the volume of his voice to make his point. His eyes were checking over her entire body unscrupulously.

He was like some kind of ferocious beast marking his territory and sizing up his prey.

“What the…” Before Alyssa could call him out on this, a female voice broke the silence in the car.

“Alyssa?”

Alyssa heard this voice and turned her head to look out of the half-open car window. One look and she gasped.

Aurora’s eyes widened in shock, half surprised and half angry, “What are you doing here?!”

Alyssa clasped her hands tightly and a flash of anxiety flashed in her eyes.

Of all the people who could’ve seen her, it was her mother!

On the first day of her marriage, a strange man was kissing her in front of her house… It was hard to defend.

Despite all that was happening, Aurora also had to maintain her dignity. She looked around vigilantly. After making sure that no one saw the scene here, she looked at Alyssa sternly. “Come out.”

Knowing that she had no other choice, Alyssa stepped out of the car. Although her face appeared impassive, her lips remained swollen as a reminder of their last activity. Her cheeks remained flushed red as well.

As soon as she got out of the car, Aurora wasted no more time and pulled her directly into the villa.

Unexpectedly, Emmett leaned his head out of the car window and shamelessly rubbed his lips with his fingers, saying casually, “My dearest sister-in-law, come back soon. I will wait for you in the car.”

Chapter 5: Like A Servant

As soon as Aurora heard the word “sister-in-law”, her face went dark just like the bottom of a pot. She looked at Alyssa in a cold and somber look.

If looks could kill, Alyssa was sure that she would have already been buried six feet under the ground with no way out.

This time not even the richest man in the city could help pull her out from the mess this ‘Justin’ had created for her.

Alyssa gritted her teeth in extreme anger. Till last night, she did not even know this man. Why this man was behaving like he had some previous grudge on her?

Was this man trying to get her killed?

Aurora held Alyssa’s hand and pulled her into the hall of the villa, then coldly let go.

She looked at Alyssa with an ashen face, “Did the man just call you Sister-in-law? Is he Emmett’s cousin?”

“Yes.” It wasn’t that she could lie at this time.

Slap!

Aurora slapped Alyssa in the face with all her strength.

Alyssa’s face swung to the side and her ears began to buzz. If she hadn’t balanced herself, she would’ve already collapsed to the ground from the force.

“You have no shame, do you? What were you thinking while getting involved with your husband’s cousin on the first day of your marriage!” Aurora clenched her jaw hatefully, “If you want to die, just go and kill yourself! I’ll even hand you a knife! But don’t you dare drag us with you!”

When Aurora turned away, Alyssa reached out to touch her face which was still in pain.

She coldly looked up to Aurora, “Really? Do you think I was the one who kissed him first? You can’t even ask what happened?”

Her dear mother did not even ask about the situation and directly declared her as the convict.

It had always been like this. Every time something went wrong, no matter what happened or who was at fault, Alyssa was always the first to be blamed.

The vase was broken? It must be Alyssa who broke it.

Water splashed on the floor? It must be Alyssa who poured it.

The trip went wrong? It was because Alyssa came with us.

Her mother wouldn’t even bother asking her for a reason. Instead, she’d use insults and hands to do the talking.

‘Worthless’, ‘good-for-nothing’, ‘wrench’ – every type of insult had been used by her mother while praising her. If Alyssa got a dime for every time her mother had used them all these years, she’d be a billionaire by now.

“One is an impotent and disfigured piece of garbage, and the other is a normal and healthy man. I have eyes and you have eyes. It would be clear to everyone who to choose. You haven’t already spent your wedding night with this “cousin”, have you?”

A soft feminine voice came from the stairway, gently and softly, but full of malice.

Seeing Skylar came down, Aurora rushed over to greet her. She smiled ear to ear. “Skylar, do you feel better? Do you need me to fetch you a cup of tea? Or do you want to turn down the AC?”

Aurora addressed her so carefully as if she was a fine porcelain cup that she had just picked up from an auction.

“Thanks Mom. I feel much better.” Skylar smiled gently with great innocence, but there was a certain glint in her eyes like one that held all the maliciousness in her heart.

She went towards Alyssa. “Alyssa, I can totally understand how you feel. But you should at least think about our family and show a little restraint. Do it for us.”

From an upstairs window, she saw Alyssa and a man kissing in the car. That was the reason why she rushed down. What didn’t surprise her was that Alyssa was kissing a man who couldn’t have been her husband, but someone was actually kissing her ugly sister!

Skylar then turned to look at Aurora and asked innocently, “Mom, am I right?”

Aurora instantly showed a smile, “Of course my Skylar, you are always right.”

Skylar heard it and glanced at Alyssa. The glint in her eyes could not be hidden.

Alyssa tightly clenched her hands and pursed her lips, not bothering to say a word.

It was hard to tell which one of the two girls was Aurora’s biological daughter. After all, who would even think about treating their own blood like trash?

But here was her mother.

Over the years, Aurora had always wanted to gain a firm foothold in the Moore family, she tried to please everyone in this house with everything she could.

But her daughter was simply a burden that she had cursed upon them, and she’d do everything to put her last, even if it meant sacrificing her own blood.

At the sight of Alyssa, Aurora’s smile vanished and she looked at the former with an angry face. “Alyssa, since you have married into the Lawrence family, you must fulfill your duty. Don’t you give our family a bad name! We’re only doing this because we care for you.”

Because they care for her? Had she ever?

They cared for her so much that they forced her to marry in the place of Skylar?

They cared for her so much that they did not even hear her explanation and directly slapped her?

Alyssa lowered her eyes, hiding her disdain inside. She still looked blank as a doormat. With a calm voice, she said, “You have reminded me something. That is if you do something that pisses me off, I might do something stupid in front of the Lawrences. Now, I am not sure if that would provoke them to do something to our family, but I wouldn’t tempt me. Got it?”

Skylar did not expect Alyssa who had always been silly and rebellious, would say such words. She frowned and said, “What do you mean by that?”

“Just exactly what you heard.” Alyssa looked up, with her eyes slightly closed, as dull as usual.

Did they really think she would still be insulted as a servant like before?

It used to be like that. She had pretended to act humble in an attempt to please and win favor of Aurora. She chose to behave that way in order to follow her mother’s wishes.

After all, wasn’t blood supposed to trump anything aside?

However, after Aurora had forced Alyssa to marry into the Lawrence family on her sister’s behalf, the fear of displeasing her mother was gone as well.

Now she did not care if her mother would get angry, nor would she try to please them anymore.

“What?”

Skylar gritted her teeth. She was already used to bossing Alyssa around, but this was the first time she saw this ugly woman actually fight back.

She was so angry that she glared at Alyssa before she turned to look at Aurora, “Mom, how could she even say that?”

Of course, Aurora could hear the treat in Alyssa’s words. But assuming that Alyssa would compromise with her no matter what like the past, she still put on a mother’s airs and said sternly, “Alyssa, apologize to your sister!”
